I just did mine as well! I was expecting to have to splice wires but the OEM harness plugged right in to the camera and lock. Very pleased!! Thank you to everyone who posted about this before!!

Yes I am too! I bought the harness knowing that it would prevent me from having to splice wires. I did get my arm caught in the tailgate trying to pull the harness through the same way the old one was.

Are you saying the harness that came in the truck already had the hook up for the actuator? Or you bought a new OEM harness?

The main harness is already wired for a power locking tailgate. You have to purchase the actuator and a shorter harness that plugs in just above the spare tire. On an XL the stock short harness only powers the rear backup camera, the new harness used on XLT and Lariats powers the camera and the actuator too.

Okay that makes sense. I thought you were implying that your truck came with an empty socket for the actuator.

I have been rereading through the thread, but cannot find the part number for the new split harness.

I bought the actuator and harness and plan to install soon. I have a question about the harness, what is the 2nd plug for next to the one that plugs into the actuator?

No I purchased the factory harness from Ford. I didn’t want to cut or splice anything.

I just ordered the actuated to do the power tailgate mod but the dealer I checked with said the wiring harness is on back order. Where did you order the harness from? I actually just found a few on eBay for $63 shipped which is what I’ll just order.

That sounds about right. The harness is the best way to go.

I ordered the parts from https://www.getoemparts.com and it took about 10 days to get them. I did have to send an email after a week asking where my order was. The site has lots of negative reviews but my experience with them was good. Got what I needed for fairly good prices.
