I don't get it. The tail lights on a pickup are not the greatest to start with. Why do you want to make it easier for someone to fail to spot your brake lights and rear end you? I want brake lights that totally blind the guy driving too close instead.

When you are driving around, you should be aware other vehicles are also on the road. If someone can't see there's an entire Maverick in front of them because I put some degreaser in my taillight housing, well, I'm not sure that guy wasn't going to hit me in the a-- anyway.

I guess you never drive at night, in dense fog, duststorms or a snowstorm where you live...

Actually, I mostly avoid leaving the house in those conditions at all costs. Lots of stupid stuff happens on the roads when it's like that, and it ain't caused by dim brake lights. It's caused by dimwits!

😂. I don’t understand the preoccupation on this board with the Maverick being somehow invisible on the road. Whether it’s this light mod, despite how many people who have done it saying there is ZERO change in light output or the contextual bias I keep seeing where people who are visiting a forum specifically about the Ford Maverick see people posting about Mavericks being rear ended and draw the conclusion that the Maverick is somehow more predisposed to being rear ended 🤷‍♂️

I’ve driven in a range of conditions with this mod done with friends and family following and nobody has ever said “Dude I can’t see your truck anymore because the middle of your taillights where the reverse lights are is black now”. People can do it or not but either way there will still be no change in light output

Lasfit LED taillight bulbs with Zep BAP taillights. Still plenty bright at night? Any brighter they'll blind the people behind me and then they'll definitely rear end me :ROFLMAO:

I dont plan to do this only because I like the silver contrast on my lights in the reverse light area, however this is for the naysayers. Ford offered a black appearance package for 2023. The reflective part of the taillights on this package is black plastic. The lenses are the same red plastic as the regular taillight. This is so the lenses "appear" tinted when they are not. It's essentially the same taillight as what this hack does. Now, in order for Ford to offer this, they would have to pass certain DOT tests as far as visibility, light transmission etc. in order to be compliant. If not, they would not be able to offer it.

I'm with you - I try really hard to avoid those, especially the "dense fog" situation.

Years ago, we lived on the outside of a curve, and our driveway was semi-aligned with the road (slight turn, but not much). One foggy night my Dad was driving us home in some unexpected really dense fog. There was a guy behind him - clearly just following his taillights. When Dad stopped beside the house (no carport, no garage), the guy following him hit us. He jumped out of the car yelling "Why did you suddenly slam on the brakes, you idiot?" My Dad calmly told him "Because I am in my driveway!" The guy did a double-take, looked around in the fog, and apologized profusely...

Fortunately, they were both going slow enough that our '68 Buick Special station wagon wasn't hurt (not even a scratch on the bumper). I don't remember if the tailgater's car was hurt or not. That Buick was a tank... Bought it used in '73, and it stayed in the family for years until it was finally "retired" with almost 300,000 miles on it. Whenever someone talks about how "they don't build 'em like they used to..." it's that Buick that comes to mind.

I always wonder how someone figures this out. It's like the invention of the sandwich.
Probably by accident. Someone had a chrome part come in prolonged contact with the Zep and said, "Crud, I really screwed this up!", and his buddy said, "Wait a minute, Bob." " I think you're on to something".

That’s the LED bulb package from Lasfit. I installed that exact package on mine. Very easy to install. Side markers are a bit tricky, but even the most non-mechanically inclined people can swap these out.
