DIY exterior BAP Write Up

Hi all,

Just wanted to do a write up about doing a custom “Black Appearance Package”.

Having chose the FX4 package on my EB, you unfortunately can’t choose BAP as an option (why ford). So I set out to make my own. And with the 2025 models reveals this is will only pertain to the 22-24s.

Grill Bar Painted Black with Matte clear coat and Front emblem painted Grey/Black (w/ comparison to OEM Lariat):

Ford Maverick DIY Exterior BAP (Black Appearance Package) on FX4 Ima

Rear emblem and trim painted Gray and Black:
Ford Maverick DIY Exterior BAP (Black Appearance Package) on FX4 IMG_7955

(Bonus black AWD badge)

Parts Needed:
Grill Bar: NZ6Z-8200-ABPTM (Can buy ford parts.com or rock auto. My unit was from rock auto)
Rear Tailgate Emblem: NZ6Z-16605-A (this I bought second hand from a wrecked Maverick.
Front Emblem: GJ5Z-8213-C (can buy from a dealer/ford.parts.com or eBay)

If you plan to do a direct replacement with a new Grill Bar you will either need to take off both the “Radiator Grill Brackets” from the original Bar or buy both NZ6Z8B026A and NZ6Z8B026B. These are the pieces that clip into the head lights.

Paint used:
Black-SEM Trim Black
Matte Clear Coat - Spray Max Matte
Grey - Duplicolor Grey Metallic
Duplicolor Black Primer used
Duplicolor Adhesive Protomoter used
Scotch brite scrub pads

Definitely giving me some ideas. Looks awesome. The "Maverick" lettering, is it vinyl or 3d domed raised lettering?

Like your work. Not crazy about the one horizontal bright work insert on my Lariat grille. I’ m good with everything else. Was it complicated to remove that one piece?

Not difficult, just a little time consuming. There are two videos I found on YT that walk you through it. If I find them again I can link them.

Nice! I've been doing a BAP on my XLT over the last year. I've been debating painting the grille bar since the standard XLT rims match the standard XLT color.

Yea I tried to make mine blend a bit with other lighter grey accents but it was easy being on a Carbon Grey Maverick. Still, it stands out. I like the ones the XLT's get because it's not totally black but it's kind of carbon and I was never fond of the BAP interior.

I've been telling myself to do this paint mod for a long time lol. I don't think I ever will but it's definitely the way to go vs. those overpriced adhesive things. Those are trash.

I masked off my grille bar and painted with Rustoleum Chrome Silver, which never looks like chrome but more like the argent color I was after anyway. Also did hood apron and side stripes in the Maverick Grabber style from 71-76 when it was a car.
If I ever repaint that bar, though, I am going to figure out how to remove it. That was a serious masking job!

If you end up repainting that bar. Here's a good vid on removing the front bumper so you can get to that bar and the emblem etc

I avoided FX4 becuase you couldn't get the BAP, sparing you from the standard XLT or Lariat interior color scheme. Your work addresses the exterior, but your still left with the standard stuff on the interior. I would have sprung for FX4 if I could have had the BAP too.... I suspect they think it would end up a Poor Man's Tremor at that point, so they didn't allow the combinations.
