I agree with everything you observed. I just returned from a cross Canada and back trip of 21,000 Km and found the Maverick to be an excellent long range touring vehicle. I drove a little slower, partly because I avoided 4 lane highways, at about 100 km/hour. That is between 60 and 65 MPH and averaged for the entire trip 6.4l/100km or almost 37 MPG.Just got back from 1st road trip with our 25 Lariat hybrid AWD : went to NYC for the long weekend
Opinions: I love love LOVE Lane centering and adaptive cruise. It takes away 75% of the fatigue on long drives, and I'm stunned how well it works even at night. Used it pretty much the whole way there and back and it was flawless on the highway. Is it perfect? No, it sometimes wanders a little bit in the lane but it's pretty rare ... IMO it's better than at least half the drivers I've ridden with. Instead of concentrating on my position in the lane, I could scan in the distance for deer or other hazards. Awesome.
Comfort at highway speeds is fine, and luckily ours has no rattles or wind noises at all. Road noise is also fine, I'd say it's a little bit louder than our MDX but not much. With the B&O audio, it's a pleasant drive EXCEPT when we changed drivers and I sat in the back with the rear speaker screeching directly into my ear ... I adjusted the fader after that
Front seats are comfortable and fine for long trips. Rear seat room is tighter than our Camry but still OK for three teenagers. The rear seat bottom isn't padded enough, complaints of sore butts were heard from all who sat back there, including me. Next trip we'll try adding a memory foam cushion on top to see if that helps. Rear seat back is too upright, but nothing can be done about that
Highway fuel economy was a solid 30 MPG at 70 MPH. Probably could be better, but we have to cross the Adirondacks on the way there and back. Driving into and around the city was around 47 MPG. It was super easy to park vs a full sized pickup that won't fit into many urban parking spaces
So far we're still 100% satisfied with our purchase and haven't found the flaws yet.
I love the fact that it behaves like a car (great fuel economy, manageable size) when we need it to, but it can also do truck stuff ... today it pulled the 4000 lb pontoon out of the lake through a loose sand & gravel path, then hauled it 30 minutes to our storage yard.
11/10, would buy again
What you lose on the way up is at least partly recaptured on the way down depending on how steep the down grade is.. . . but we have to cross the Adirondacks on the way there and back.
Please post pictures of your Maverick.![]()
I agree on the daily practicality, convenience and comfort. I took my '25 Lariat on a 2,000 mile trip from KY to FL and back, hauling several hundred pounds of supplies. Every day my little truck impresses me and I find myself choosing to drive it more than any other that I own. I too towed a 4,000lb load with no issues over 80+ miles. Our partnership started out as a rocky road, but has become a driving symbiosis.Just got back from 1st road trip with our 25 Lariat hybrid AWD : went to NYC for the long weekend

Except for the pontoon pull and riding in back seat (haven’t done it myself, no complaints from passengers) I could have written this. WELL SAID!Just got back from 1st road trip with our 25 Lariat hybrid AWD : went to NYC for the long weekend

Thanks- Good suggestion! One thing I'd suggest if you sometimes have passengers in the back seat: turn the radio up the way you usually listen to it, then go sit in the back. Adjust the fader if it's too loud ... the speaker isn't putting out full range, and being right next to your ear it gets unpleasant after a while
I set the sound to driver. And my sister who was sitting in the back seat said it was a lot betterI can confirm the rear speaker issue for passengers on long trips. We made a 1300 mile trip in my sister’s new 2025 lariat hybrid with AWD and 4k tow. That rear speaker issue literally right in your ear. We adjusted the fader too. I agree with the rest of your assessment to.
Love the brief review and the color is just icing on the cake!10,000 miles and 10 months of ownership. I love it !
Like most pick up owners I haul air 90% of the time. It’s all the truck I wanted. The small bed so far has been adequate.

better than than non-hybrid but still less efficient than flat terrain. What you lose on the way up is at least partly recaptured on the way down depending on how steep the down grade is.
