Delayed collision alert?

So I know car play can be slow sometimes especially if it’s hot, but when driving on the highway today a big truck almost cut me off, so I pass it and all is clear, about a minute later I get a collision alert message. It wasn’t even hot outside for computer to overheat and late react. Now I’m kind of questioning how reliable the safety system is.

Unless the two events are completely unrelated and it was just a random glitch for collision alert, which I never got randomly like that before.

Funny coincidence. Last Saturday my wife and I were driving back home from town.
On a two lane road in the middle of nowhere at sundown.
My collision alert goes off. My wife asked me what that was. I told her it was the collision alert. Neither one of us saw anything.
I told her, I should check the dash cam when I got home, but I got busy in the barn and forgot.

Similar occurrence, about a week ago, here as well. Went around a left turner, coming in the opposite direction that drifted into my lane at a green light, and once I passed the turner and had a completely clear lane in front of me, the collision alert went off after I was 20 yards passed the obstacle. Weird ….

I've had two alerts so far.
The first was in heavy traffic but was actually a bit late but I had already reacted and was ok.
The second I think was a phantom but it scared the heck out of the wife.
Nice to have but I'm not sure I can really depend on it.

Last Saturday I was driving north on a 2 lane road at about 50 mph. No other vehicles around. Passed a pedestrian walking SB on the opposite shoulder and shortly thereafter my collision assist startled me when it activated fully locking my seat belt. Only "obstacle" was a very large dark shadow cast over the roadway by a stand of trees.

Sounds dumb but how dirty is the windshield over the camera? If mine gets dirty it plays dumb lol.

Spotless!!
Pet peve of mine. I can't handle dirty or filmy windows. I even use the newspaper trick.

When I back up and there's a car passing, I get the alert around half the time. I've had times where I was in reverse and at the end of the driveway and cars zipped by within 5 feet and not a peep out of the system.

Did you only get the dash alert, or did it also apply the brakes? If so, how hard did it apply them?

RE: Backing up = isn't that a different system, the Cross-traffic alert?

RE: [Forward] Collision alert = although mine has never sounded off, I don't trust it. I drive in SoCal freeway traffic and have felt many times when I had to react, that the Collision alert should have sounded off.

Same with Adaptive Cruise Control - In slow and go traffic it seems to slow to react, it applies the brakes later and much more aburptly than I would. But it works. Yes, I have it set at max sensitivity.

I will pay more attention to keeping my windshield cleaner.

My buddies F-350 will do collision alert running through an intersection. The lights can cause the alert to go off, depending on how he sets the sensitivity.

Yes... but still safety alert system so... I'm guessing somewhat related.
