My Eco turns 3 in July. I only have 16,000 miles on it. I plan to run the wheels off it and the buy new wheels. At the current rate it'll take me 15 years to hit 100,000 miles. So, I plan to enjoy the no payments for the next decade.

Mine turns 4 in August currently at 17.5k miles. I still treat it like it was brand new!!

My 23 XLT hybrid has 19,000 miles. Absolutely love it. When I bought it I thought I would only be driving around 4 to 5k a year but I enjoy driving it so much I'm doing about 6k (retired)
With that said, it was horrible in the snow this past winter. I'm not a fan of Continental tires. Looks like I'll replace them at around 28,000 miles (leaning towards Michelin Defender 2). I don't need to go out when it snows so not a big deal. Wife has an AWD 2015 Honda CRV which is pretty good in the snow. If the Mav prices hadn't gone up so much I would consider trading in for an AWD hybrid but can't justify the cost!

Would you keep it or sell while it’s still low miles and under warranty? If I decide to keep it, I'm open to recommendations on Ford Warranty, best pricing.
So you're thinking of selling the vehicle because of out-of-warranty repairs that might never come up?

I suppose it's the same for extended warranties. You're basically betting that the vehicle will have repairs total up to more than the cost of the warranty. Extended warranties pay out far less in claims than they collect in revenue, otherwise they wouldn't be offered.

I suppose the answer depends on your financial situation. If the vehicle is an extra one that's just taking up space, sell it. If it's your only vehicle, keep it. At less than 4,000 miles a year, you could buy a low-mileage ESP for fairly cheap. Miles do more to wear out a car than age, hence why the ESPs are priced accordingly.

I for one, have no intention of parting from my 2022 hybrid due in part to all the modification I made to make it uniquely personal. Money and time not to be earned back.
I hope you have supplemental insurance for all the modifications. I was way too lazy to get that drawn up (stated cash value of mods) until it was too late. Insurance will pay out actual cash value, which to me didn't cover half the parts I put on, not to mention all the labor I did to install it.

Now I'm still lazy and I got to the point where I'd rather just buy a vehicle with as much of what I want already installed. I carry supplemental coverage for the topper, but that was easy enough to set up since I had an invoice for the thing plus the labor to have it installed.

38,000+ on my 2022 Ecoboost, and it's been problem free. Remember that the powertrain warranty runs to 5 years and 60,000 miles.

Personally, I'm hanging on to my Maverick until I see something I like more. The new Ford BEV truck in mid-2027 is a possibility. So is a Rivian R2T if they ever offer a truck version of the R2. And of course, who knows what other OEMs will deliver in the next year or two?

OP, have you considered just selling the Maverick (if you are a multi-car family) and applying your savings towards Uber or other provider? If you put that few miles on it per year, you're probably better off letting somebody else drive. The math is different for everyone, but there is definitely a point where depreciation + maintenance + insurance > Uber.

I’m happy with my 24 AWD Eco Lariat.
Its warranty goes to 100,000 miles,
I’ll trade up right before that ends.

Just to get a new toy :’P

If you want to have an empty spot in your garage, sell it to an online retailer.

If you want to end up with a new vehicle, sell your to an online realtor and buy what you want.

If you want the vehicle you have with a warranty, buy one from Granger.

Granger is a great place to buy the extended warranty, they sell for just over their cost, and they have an entire menu of options. The Premium Care gives you pretty much the same coverage as the factory warranty and it is backed by Ford.
Most third party warranties are garbage by comparison.

Unlike cars of prior generations, items that used to be inexpensive and simple are now expensive and complex. While the factory powertrain would remain in coverage, there are LOTS of electronic and other components that can cost twice the warranty cost to replace.

Infotainment screen replacement can be $2000. Headlights on my vehicle are $1000-$1500.

From a cost benefit standpoint, getting a warranty and keeping your Mav is the smart choice.

Whatever you decide, good luck.

Thanks for the advice. You make a valid argument. I hadn't thought of supplemental insurance, in fact, I didn't know such a thing existed. I will check with my agent. Thanks.

Another not-so-fun insurance fact: if you own a cargo trailer, your insurance will cover the trailer itself but generally not the contents, at least past a certain amount.

This is because insurance is about distribution of risk. The value of the trailer is known so the risk can be calculated. However, the trailer might contain air, or it might contain a million dollars in equipment and jewelry. Thus the contents are of an unknown risk and not covered past a set amount.

So if you're storing or transporting your antique heirlooms or really expensive tools or equipment in your cargo trailer, you generally need what is literally referred to as inland marine insurance. That covers property transported over land.

Good to know. Thank you. Why hasn't my insurance agent educated me about these things?!
