Folks, as we near the end of the MY22 scheduling (±3 months) and look ahead to MY23, curious as to whether anyone has compiled a list of dealers around the country that DO NOT REQUIRE A DEPOSIT in order to place an order.

If such a list already exists, just the link please. If not, I am sure this will be a helpful resource for people as we consider our options.

Ford of Kirkland in Washington State.
Harris Ford in Washington State.
As of 6/14/22, Long McArthur Ford in Kansas (Tim said on his 6/14/22 livestream that he is not 100% sure if they will ask for a deposit or not yet). Even if they do take a deposit, they are the one dealership I would have absolutely NO problem handing some money over to.

I think a lot more dealers are going to require deposits for the MY23, including some like Long McArthur who didn't require any at the beginning. Dealers have to show a certain percentage of orders are going to those who ordered and the percentage is going up for MY23. Dealers will start requiring deposits because they want to ensure the people who order them buy them. I would just worry about dealers who require a non-refundable deposit, especially is its $1000 or more.

Unless a vehicle is sitting there on the lot with your name on it, I think a NON-REFUNDABLE deposit of any kind is ludicrious!

The Maverick limited configurations make justifying a deposit really hard. Its not a f150 with hundreds of factory only options. Just about any maverick configuration is desirable in some way.

True, but if a dealer requires a non-refundable deposit, that should be enough to act as a buyer's order and get the dealer to sign a sheet agreeing to the price which will help cut down on the ones that try and mark up orders when they come in. They should all burn in hell..or shipped out to Russia

I have a refundable deposit on my current order, which I think is reasonable. But I wouldn't even make a refundable deposit without something in writing regarding order details and vehicle pricing. No money should change hands without an agreed upon deal. Unfortunately, many consumers go into this pretty uninformed and end up getting screwed on the back end.

My Ford dealer of choice, Lamoille Valley Ford, Hardwick, VT does not require a deposit. Contact Mike Tatro, Maverick Salesman. If you mention my name, you might want to duck. :D

Long McArthur Ford in Salinas, KS said last evening they are considering a deposit for MY23 Mavs.

This is exactly why I walked away from the first dealer I went to. They wanted me to put down a deposit on a purchase with no final price. Pretty much trying to c*ck me into loosing 1k or buying a marked up vehicle. Thanks God I did because it absolutely worked out that I'd get a extremely good deal at the next dealer with no deposit.

That's ludicrous on the part of a dealer to expect people to pay money for the privilege of maybe buying a truck that may never be built at a yet undetermined price. But I guess as long as there are people out there willing to play along with the dealer games it will keep happening.

Exactly, literally any other purchase in life has a set price when you place a deposit and it was super unsettling when they said that. Not even a mock Dora or build list(they said they couldn't do it and we know that's a lie). In hindsight I appreciate them mentioning the dealer addon up front of 2k but at the same time it boggles my mind that they would charge me for that on a car that hasn't even been thought of being built yet. Salesmen said that all the cars get it and even he himself had to get it on his personal car. In the back of my mind all I could think was "you getting f*cked by your boss is not my problem". I walked out but atleast they let me sit in a maverick they had on the lot. That provided a big piece of mind that I could fit.

So let me get this straight. Dealers are requiring deposits now for MY23 orders. Most people on here ordered their Mav because of the no deposit, plus dealers were able to collect the unclaimed orders from some of these people and marked them up bigly. So if more people are turned off by the non refundable deposit requirement, then there would be less customer orders ,and thus, dealers won't have cars to sell. Am I missing something here? I would think dealers want people to place orders so they can turn around and steal them and sell them at huge markups.

Astro and Butch Oustalet in South Mississippi were both willing to place orders without deposit.
