I heard that after they switch to MY23 the first batch of trucks will be for Dealer stock,,, So they can make sure that the line is operating correctly. Not sure how many that is,, i guess look for dealers to have some trucks first of year.
My dog was pestering me at the time{ darn Springer Spaniel} so if i misunderstood then i'm sure someone will correct me.

By all means, dealers need more vehicles they can mark up $10K over sticker.

Don't rush to build trucks for folks who have been waiting 16 months and counting...

That doesn't make sense. How big of a batch are we talking about? First two weeks? A month? I can see letting the first day or so be stock to ensure the paint is correct, etc. But it's not like they are changing a lot this MY that they need a large transition period.

Early might mean due to hybrid constraints, they will be able to get a lot more eco orders completed, with some of those possibly being dealer stock.
I don't get on the Facebook stream so I have no idea with Tim actually said though.

@fordvideoguy any insight?

Tim Bartz said that after they switch to MY23, the first batch of trucks will be for Dealer stock so they can make sure that the line is operating correctly?

Why not tag him here and give him some credit instead of just saying you heard it somewhere?

Also, how does that make any sense? Do they send the trucks to the dealers, let the dealers sell them, wait a while to see if the wheels stay on and only then proceed with building retail orders?
If I remember correctly he stated that about a weeks worth of production would be run thru the line as stock orders for testing purposes.

Based on numbers we have seen production would be somewhere in the 2000-2500 units range. Thats an assumption based on 8k-10k monthly production numbers and assuming a full weeks production goes to this testing.

Also, while some are shipped to dealers some representative samples are taken for QA testing. As someone who worked in a factory, in the QA department, I can tell you that the testing takes a bit of time.

By the end of a week or so the first ones that were pulled for testing should be done and they will be able to sign off on the model year changeover and begin shipping units.

While the risk of something being wrong is small, testing before shipping is still the right way to go. It also makes sense to do this on stock orders on the remote chance something does show up in QA they won't have customer orders sitting there waiting for repairs.

And a dose of reality from a voice in the wilderness!
I'm sure someone will still call foul for testing the line and if Ford just ran orders with no testing complain their wheels fell off upon delivery!

I believe what Tim is talking about is they have to run 5 days of production without any errors before the OKTB is given to sell the new model year vehicles. Makes sense to run stock orders only.

Thank you for explaining. This makes sense and would be expected.

Think I'd be more inclined to think the earliest builds were destined for journalists.
