How do I know if I have Sync-3 or not? The manual just says, "If your truck is equipped with Sync-3..."

Is it one of those "If you don't know, you don't have it" kind of situations? Thanks for any help (and for leaving out any condescending remarks :) )
If you have Lariat Luxury Package (or swapped the hardware yourself), you have Sync 3 (4 if you went that route with the hardware). Otherwise, you do not.

Thanks. I didn't think I did, but you never know.

everyone is entitled to their own opinion, of course.

after I had the same issue downloading via a strong wifi signal - which I'm certain of because my smart garage door opener would not work until I put another AP nearby in the house - I just downloaded it to a usb key and updated.

it's not worth my time chasing the service dept. what if they update but it's not the latest that you see on Ford's website? waste of time for everyone.

it's not hard as long as you have a (somewhat) large usb stick. I think the update package is over 2GB so you need a 4GB drive, at least. then login to ford.com and under support and service you'll actually see sync updates right there, assuming you have telematics enabled on your truck. (if you can use Fordpass, you will see sync version update info accurately here.)

if you haven't set up your Maverick on your Ford account that's easy also but I won't bother explaining it here.

just insert the usb key under the center console, start the truck and wait for the update to start. very simple.

I was able to update my wife’s Sync 3 on her 22 Escape over WiFi using my iPhone as a Hotspot.

My 23 Maverick Lariat (delivered March 1) has Sync Version 3.4.22200 and per ford.com/support is “Sync is up-to-date”

I have to keep up Sync3 on a C-Max, a Transit and my Maverick. Just tedious to do over wifi, but has worked. Seems like it doenloads at the earliest speeds...300 baud. The thumb drives work easier for me.

I've had that happen. Not a big deal, the next time or one of the times you update again it'll get the current version.
spoke to Ford on the phone about it. They said that they no longer do the xml file upload because of the ability to communicate via FordPass. They said it could take up to a week to see online status show as updated.

My Mav Hybrid has been needing the Sync 3 Update for a while, but it will not perform the update over my wifi. Despite my 200MB wifi wireless download speed on my 1 GB wired network.

I asked the dealer to do it, and RDthey said that the charge would be $179. I said nevermind. Are other people getting this done at the dealer under warranty? If not, is there a published procedure to do it manually?
This is why Ford will continue to loose business in the future. Take care of the customer. Treat your customers with respect. They will in turn buy more cars from you..

That's a dealership, not Ford Motor Company.

They're not the same thing. And you can definitely try to get serviced at another dealership, but I don't see many of them covering something like this, unless a salesperson sees it as something that would get you to buy something that day. (And then you buy it, and they fix this.)

Just an example of service: So an employee who works for Walmart is just an employee. They are not a family member. A family member is suppose to give you the best service possible. So an employee is not really suppose to give you that great of service.

The dealer is a branch of Ford. Ford expects them to give you good service. This dealer is ruining it for Ford by not helping the customer.

Just look at Fords stock. The dealers along With Ford are keeping the stock down. Provide terrible service, and do not bend for the customers, and you will suffer.

... Still not Ford. And not unreasonable for the dealership to do this as billable labor since Ford motor company will not cover it under warranty. Totally on the dealership to decide if they are eating the labor or not. I would guess very few would do it for free.
