Decline it. Check if it's on any previously signed paperwork, and assuming it isn't, make them remove it.

Tell them you already can locate your vehicle for free via the FordPass App. Tell them you will not be buying any dealer add-ons.

In reality a thief could factory reset your connection to FordPass, but they are unlikely to do so. Most are just joy riding it, or are so drugged up that they don't know what they are doing. They aren't stealing your Maverick to part it out at a chop shop.

if it's a professional car thief doing that, they most definitely have a gps, cellular and bluetooth jamming device onboard and the lojack or whatever will not be any more effective than fordpass at recovering the truck.

If you don’t want it and it’s already installed, tell them you didn’t ask for it and that they can take it off. I didn’t pay to have LoJack on mine. Just another way to make a little bit of extra money. I doubt they’ll loose the deal if you refuse to pay for that device you didn’t ask for.

if the OP is picking it up literally today or tomorrow, I guarantee they will not risk the sale over it.

99% of car dealers have monthly quotas and most of those are calendar month because it's easy. so they really, really want to sell that truck today or tomorrow.

Tell them to take it out, and fix the wiring back to stock. That is unless you really want it…

Yes, sitting in the show room, over 2 hours now, waiting to see the finance guy to close my all cash purchase.

I will refuse the $199 add on.
Did you get out of the dealer with your truck in less than the 3 hours it took me for mine?? BTW it was also a cash sale.

Hopefully you were able to decline all the "dealer options" or add-ons.

I honestly don't understand Ford dealers... At other brands the buying experience is not like this.....

When I bought my Acura that this truck replaced, the F&I guy was the best part of the whole experience. Totally awesome. No games - AND he recommended a fantastic place for dinner that we still go to 10 years later. He was so good he got promoted out of the customer-facing position.

Clearly not all Ford dealers are bad, but mine was so grimy it made me want to take a shower afterwards.

Just a bit over 3 hours. But 2:45 of that was waiting for a finance guy to be available.

15 minutes signing papers & esignatures.

Also like 15 seconds for me to say no to the LoJack or what ever it was, absolutely no comment, just a ā€˜let me update the papers and remove it. ā€˜ BTW nothing was done to the vehicle after I said no. So I guess hardware could still be there, just not activated.

All in all I would recommend both salesman & finance guy. I’ll get that info into that tracking thread.

Glad it worked out for you.
