Just curious with the above comment and using Low mode, with potentially very heavy regen braking with no brake light on.

Do you trust them more behind you?

Interesting observation on 12VB, and nice keeping it going so long!
You'll probably get normal expected life out of it.

I'm pretty gentle on my pedal lifts so it isn't as abrupt when I slow down. And no, I still don't trust them behind me either. I don't know if you've ever driven out here, but Virginia has some of the most aggressive and ignorant drivers in the country. Only in VA do you see a car zigzagging in and out of traffic going 80+ mph while texting and totally oblivious to the other people on the road. Turn signals are optional and road courtesy doesn't exist.

I don't even pay attention to mpg anymore. I just go by how many weeks I go by before filling up. I get about 4 weeks to the tank.

I am of the understanding that the brake lights come on whenever the vehicle's degree of inertia rises to a certain point and the front end dips. It explains why your brakes illuminate with ACC.

i can appreciate trying to see how many miles one can get on a tankful, but that is cutting it too close. It is not good to run modern engines out of gas. It can really do damage to the fuel pump in the tank which needs gas for cooling. It is always best to fill up at 1/4 tank to maintain good cooling. Your truck, your fuel pump. Enjoy your Maverick.

Not cutting anything close at all.
I refueled when I had 2.5 gallons left in the tank.

Zero risk of overheating the pump.
The pump is submerged in a small deep well in the gas tank that is below the zero mark... not part of the calculation
And the moment the fuel reaches a true empty (or as empty as designers want to allow) the engine turns off. Then you are allowed ti drive safely to a parking area on electricity alone.

There is still likely close to a gallon of gas left in the tank when DTE shows 0.

2.5 gallons left in mine at MTE zero. I measured once. Yours is likely the same.

Do you feel that the one gallon of gas is sufficient to cool that fuel pump? Not trying to beat a dead horse or bust your chops, its just I am anal as all hell and worry about things like this.

It's 2.5 gallons left at MTE 0 in a hybrid.
100% sure the pump is fine.

Not the case in vehicles without ACC.
I think ACC is actually applying the brakes half the time. Probably has you confused.

L is just strong regen. The design intent is to hold your speed steady on steep downgrades. No brake lamps are activated.

My commute in my 24 2wd hybrid is about 11 miles, only one of those is electric. I am usually getting anywhere from 34-36 MPG, sometimes less depending on the weather. I never get anywhere near what other people brag about online. I have been getting about 440 miles per tank if I'm lucky.

People don’t actually average this for an entire tank. Some do, but most are just posting single trips of great mileage. If they tracked it hand calculated it would be much lower.

I get about 21-22km/l on my mostly highway 86km commute. It's impressive when I hear I'm getting around the same as a hybrid Prius.

I will go back to NWOH soon to a 24 XLT hybrid, with a full tank of treated gas. That should last me 4-6 weeks of mixed driving. I would expect gasoline prices to drop back considerably by then.

gas prices are not going down for a while. the reasons for the increase pricing is not going away any time soon.

WOW! I was getting that kind of mileage on short 3 mile winter trips but if I'm driving 35-50 mph non highway driving and the temp is above 32 I'm getting 40-45mpg plus/minus depending. Sometimes up to 50mpg but to get better than 50mpg needs the right conditions

That is true. I just passed 10k and my average is 35.9 MPG overall - manually calculated and tracked via Fuelly. So many times I get home and the computer shows like 47 or 48 mpg but the overall per tank is much lower. Have a 25'AWD Hybrid with 4k tow package.

24 Maverick XLT hybrid…I use less than a quarter tank a week. Kinda nice skipping over the huge gas price fluctuations lately.

0.0. I walk downstairs. Sometimes, there's a two pet pileup to navigate around, but that's it.
