Update on my 23 hybrid. Parts not available so dealer gave me option of keep rental or my truck back while they find out what's going on. I took back my truck. I drive streets to and from work. Only noticed the vibration issue while on a road trip. The shaking is only noticed on firm acceleration as @North1250 said. My truck is not lifted or anything. The CV joints are just defective is my take.

It seems we have an issue that Ford needs to address. I took our 22 Hybrid Lariat in for a vibration/shimmy, that is at its worst at 50 mph. At only 42k miles, they just called and said it was under warranty and the issue was CV Joints.

For good measure and a hope to help others, I filed a failure complaint with the NHTSA. If you have any such issues, I would encourage you to take the time to do the same. Ford needs to make right the things that don’t even come close to normal parts expectations (CV Joint should last 80k-100k).

Godspeed fellow Maverick owners.
80 to 100K? I had no idea that CV joints were a disposable part!!!

I've had 2 FWD cars before the Mav. 84' Escort sold in 97' with 160K, ran like a top with original clutch and CV joints. 2012 Focus sold 2023 at 200K ran like a top with original clutch and CV joints. Never even thought about CV joints before now. I just assumed they lasted the life of the vehicle.

Just lucky I guess.

You must live where they actually take care of the road system.

Do some quick research and you’ll see they have a limit on mileage and wear. But I do see that you had some older gems with higher quality gear. Glad you had some vehicles that beat the system.

That’s how it started. Then it would be quiet-ish with a tiny wiggle…that developed into a very noticeable wiggle and vibration.

Get it checked. Make sure they have parts. Get a loaner. AND ALWAYS REPORT IT TO THE HIGHWAY SAFETY BOARD!!! We gotta hold Ford accountable or they will do nothing!

Hello All,
My 22 xlt 2.0 turbo is at my local garage 75k miles, seems like CV shafts are whipped, the local ford dealer ordered 2 in only took a couple days. I will let you know if it fixed it. shakes the mirrors off about 40mph up under moderate acceleration.

Hello Group, CV axles changed definitely the problem, vibration gone, does any aftermarket company make a better replacement? I plan on keeping a while.

From another post it seems Ford has an improved design.

Hello, took mine in for the same issue and both my CV Axles were bad at 39,000 miles. Pretty sad quality and something needs to be done about it

They often wear out. Usually not as early as these have been, though.

Finally got my CV joints replaced today, under warranty. Took a while for the parts to come in.
Strange thing is, just got home and read my service order. I told them there was vibration at 55+. Well, they wrote that I stated it was making noise when turning. They said they replaced parts and no more noise.
If I report this issue to the NHTSA, there will be a conflict between what I know was wrong and the paperwork.
Looking for feedback from anyone here!

Turning the wheel over all the way to a hard lock one side or another while driving is one of the tests for a bad CV axle. If it clunks when turned to the right, the left axle is bad, and if turned left and it clunks the right axle is bad.

I completely agree. I had an infamous "K" car in the 80's and both axles went bad. Anytime that I turned right or left, it made this annoying noise.

Yes infamous indeed, a friend had one while we were in college (this was in the 2000s). 😁

Mine has been in the shop for three weeks waiting on CV axles. Started around 30k miles, maybe a little earlier. Also had evaporator and carpet replaced and I had water coming into the cabin behind the console (not good).
Did they give you a loaner?

Yes they gave me a Ford Escape to use the whole time it was in the shop. It wasn't a hybrid so the MPG was terrible, but at least it was something.
