I’ve never had any dispute about it. Ford pays them for warranty work. They did have to order the parts once they put it in the rack and verified the issue so that meant a second visit but it was an hour once parts were in.
With a commonly failed part, we sometimes have some leeway with Ford not being that strict. But sometimes a particular dealership may be under the microscope and Ford may call back warranty parts for inspection. When Ford is being strict we may be a bit less likely to replace a part that's not currently bad. It Ford has a technical bulletin then we follow it. Not sure about the axle situation because we don't see as many axle problems as some places. Not sure why. Maybe because
I’m at 44k miles so I’m definitely inside the warranty. I’ve never dealt with warranty issues before. Will I need to fight them or will they know. Also do you know how long it took for yours to be repaired? Worried about no vehicle.
With an axle repair, it probably won't take long .

they did my one axle in under 3 hours, so get an early appointment and by evening you should be able to pick it up. No fight from my dealer, they asked the symptoms, wanted to know if I felt it in the steering wheel (yes) or on the front end itself (No) and by the end of the day it was all finished including a N/C alignment.

Awesome thanks guys. Dropping it off Friday morning. I think its only the passenger side, but hoping the do both for a full reset. I'm expecting a 2 day affair as I doubt they have the CVs in stock, but I did mention I thought that was the issue, so maybe I'll get lucky.

Unfortunately they are fighting me and said it's the tires and are basically requiring me to do tires before they do anything else. I told them I rotated the tires, and the problem stayed. They didn't see grease because foolishly I wiped it off weeks ago. The service advisor is going to call me back, but I'm 99% sure they are going to force me to get tires and then road test it again and only then will they look farther.

They know better. If the tires don’t need replacing yet, ask them to balance them, then drive it. I get all service at the dealership’s Quick Lane located a block away so they don’t debate me.

Maybe so, it just doesn't track to me that the tires were rotated and the problem stayed. I told them to do the tires but if the problem stays it's gonna be a larger discussion.

Rotating aids in prolonging tire wear (each corner of a vehicle wears differently due to weight differences and stress/abrasion from cornering). Alignment helps reduce wear, as well. Balancing helps prevent vibration. If the tires need balancing as well as rotating, you’ll have some vibe. You’ll usually feel rear tire balance issues in the seat and front in the steering wheel.

You didn’t really explain what you were experiencing in the OP. You just jumped straight to cv failure. Then the dealer denied that it was cv failure and they’re suggesting it’s your tires? So what exactly is going on?

If it’s cv failure, the symptoms are primarily on the throttle and go away while coasting.

If it’s out of balance tires, they will wobble on the throttle or off the throttle.

If it’s tire cupping, that is mostly sound, the vibrations that do happen are not throttle dependent, and you should be able to see cupping on the tread pattern.

And if it’s end of life tires that are getting loud, then yeah, they need to be replaced. What’s your current tread depth?

I think you meant to reply to me.
The problem is experienced when accelerating, primarily over 20mph. There is ZERO wobble off throttle or when coasting. For example I experience the issue if I’m accelerating up a hill, or up to speed on the highway. There is no “hum” and it’s ONLY when pressing on the accelerator. I measured the tires myself and while they aren’t new they all had 4/32 to 5/32 wear. I don’t deny they are getting worn, but they aren’t bald.

When I go to page 1 of the thread, it’s showing DBKeel as being the OP. Did you start this thread and then deleted your original comments? Maybe the website made an error and isn’t correctly showing your post. But I’ve checked 3 times over the last hour and it shows DBKeel each time. 🤣

So yeah, my question was to whoever the OP was. On throttle wobble is definitely CV joint.

The OEM 225/60/18 tires are 8.5/32” tread new, so youre at 47% tread left.

Tires usually don’t get noisy until 2/32”, unless they have cupping.

If it's a Ford backed warranty, it's not the dealership being cheap. Ford allows us to only replace the faulty part under warranty. Sometimes we can get by with it. But sometimes we have to justify a repair. And randomly Ford may call for the dealership to return the defective part for inspection. If it's not bad. They MAY kick the warranty claim back. If a dealership's warranty costs per repair order are significantly higher than the other dealers in that region they attract unwanted attention and could even be subject to a warranty audit. Before you attack Ford. They're probably less strict than other manufacturers.
Ford is garbage. They know their is a problem and need to replace both

They did the tires as they weren't going to give on that and wouldn't test anything until those were done. They did 3 test drives as apparently the alignment they did was bad and it turns out that while the problem decreased, it was still very much present.

My mistake. I just read the bulletin. If ONE axle is bad. Ford says for us to replace BOTH. So Ford isn't garbage in this case

The bulletin says to replace both even if only one is bad
