I put 35K miles a year on a vehicle. I had CV axle replacement at 39,000 miles. Now it’s back at the dealer at 79,000 miles. So the life span for these CV axles appears to be 39K miles at best. Other than that, I’m still loving my ‘23 Lariat. And I did buy the extended Premium warranty (transferable).

Got several in here past 70,000 and no problems.
But still I got the extended warranty out to 100,000 for 2 grand. I’ll trade up to new right before my repair insurance runs out.

AWD ecoboost here, and I'm at 56k miles. About 500-700 miles ago, I started noticing a strong vibration accelerating hard 50-70 mph. I've since noticed it a mild throttle in that range too.

I'm going to make an appointment to have it looked at but I bet it's one or both front CVs.

it's probably just one - but the other one will eventually go - maybe you can try and push them into doing both of them - at Ford's cost of course

they would be smart to replace both under Ford powertrain warranty, as I also have unlimited/lifetime powertrain warranty through the dealership itself. it's a perk they offer when buying new Fords from them, and it's non-transferable.

yeah unfortunately they might say well we'll just wait to see it the other one ever fails - they're cheap sometimes like that.

see but the thing is, if they replace it under the factory powertrain warranty then Ford Motor Company is paying for that.

if the dealership waits and then it fails after my factory powertrain warranty is up, then they have to cover it at their cost.

doesn't matter to me, other than the inconvenience of having a vehicle getting repaired.

Ford would probably decline to do the one that isn't messed up (yet), but yeah all things being equal if the dealership didn't have to provide proof to Ford that they're both hosed they'd just have Ford foot the bill. They only did the one that was messed up that I have - when I asked about the other one they said it was good and they couldn't just swap it out - well unless I wanted to pay for it. It's about a 2 hour job.

Correct. This time it was the right side and they ordered just it, repair pending.

I noticed the same on my 22 eb awd lariat...going in for oil change and tire rotation to see if, by chance, that helps the vibration...But did gdt it on a lift to have a look and the right cv axle is "seeping" just a little. Made sure it wasn't coming from anywhere else..And both cv axles are tight and everything else looks good...Anyone care to chime in on how to tell if cv axles are needed to be changed?

I have a 2023 Maverick with 130,000 miles. I had same CV axle problems and 3 times replacement. Yes, it goes bad around 35k miles.

My 2024 Maverick XLT (EcoBoost, AWD) started shaking under acceleration shortly after I bought it (used). Sure enough, it needed a new left front CV axle at just under 29k miles. Seemed earlier than most other cases I'd read about, but I got it replaced under warranty and things seem fine now (knock on wood).
