Have a question but not sure what to call the area that the wiper arms sit in but that cavity fills with snow and ice. Is there a cover made that would lay over the wiper arms and prevent that build up? I purcahse a windshield cover I thought would do the job but the wind made it useless.

Good idea I'll check the diameter of the noodle and see if it is good fit. Or even wrap it with a dense material that could roll over the top of those wiper arms. Thanks

I like both of the above ideas, but the garage/carport is not feasible for me, or moving to the southern U.S.
I've used a full windshield cover, but putting putting on/off was more of a pain than digging the snow out of the wiper well.
I LIKE the pool noodle suggestion. Just brush the snow off, pull out the noodle. Minimal, if any snow/ice on the wipers or in the well. It might require a little creative carving around the wiper blades, arms for a tighter fit. Now a problem, where to find. NOT a winter stock item in our stores.

Try a small tarp. I used an old pool cover and was able to cover the roof and windshield as well. Nothing fancy but it works and was free.

Just thinking here...along the lines of the foam noodle, you might try 3" or 4" foam pipe insulation if that is large enough (similar to the 1/2" and 3/4" domestic water pipe size) sold at HD and Lowes. The larger diameter can be found on line or plumbing supply stores.

I like the noodle/pipe insulation ideas. Note that a noodle I have is 52" long, not quite wide enough for the entire well.

3" pipe insulation fits in the well pretty good. A 4" piece with a slot might fit on the edge of the hood even better. My pic is a 3" piece.

Walmart sells two different diameters. My store has them in two different places so you will have to hunt. I have both sizes in the pond by mistake....

Maybe @MABETT could create some kind of housing that you could attach. Im sure the noodle is fine but are you talking about something that stays in place at all times or that you leave on overnight and remove when you drive?

I would not drive with anything that might interfere with the wiper operation. A noodle or piece of pipe insulation would only be used while parked.

The more I think about this I am liking Cherokee's windshield cover idea better. It seems like it would be more effective and keep the windshield clear too. The only disadvantage I see is a cost. Sure, a noodle might be something you have laying around but, as many say in this forum, everything that is free or cheap might not be the best solution.

A small tarp will cover your windshield and the well. Harbor freight sells them for under $4.

Only while parked during snow or ice events.
