That's great you're loving the Maverick! Well hopefully you still get the ole Ranger out once in awhile. I'd be bringing it to cars and coffee or something like that 👍
I am excited to see how the Maverick compares a little bit further down the road. It runs 300 miles a day, five days a week. I have put about 7000 miles on it so far. Averaging 45.5 mpg. Just did the first oil change and ecvt fluid change, Castrol Edge 0W/20 and Motorcraft Mercon ULV fluid.

Very nice. Well hopefully it'll meet or exceed your expectations. I'm hoping mine last a long time as well. However I don't do nearly as many miles. I've had mine almost a year to the date now and have just over 15,000 miles. Tomorrow will be my first towing experience. Nothing too wild tho, a 5x9 Uhaul utility trailer to pick up a riding lawn mower my aunt is giving me along with a couple cabinets and a long aluminum ladder. I'll have a spare passenger door in the bed for my Camaro too. I'm excited to trailer something lol!

green top(nd) Quaker state the old timers liked it for some reason( maybe henry ford liked it in the old flatheads) guaranteed sludge in no time, new Quaker state should be fine, the only use for a ND oil(probably because of foaming) would be some old compressors.
My dad had a couple of customers who loved Quaker State oil . But I noticed that they changed their oil every month. So just about any oil would do. Also I noticed that Quaker State also sold a non detergent or an SB rated oil neither of which was suitable for an engine of even the 1960s or 1970s

or the 50s either,my youngest brother bought an old Olds of a neighbor( don't think he changed oil and may have used Q state) when he pulled a valve cover there was a perfect molded replica of the valve cover underneath, most old farmers will rebuild an 8N Ford tractor and despite being clean and fresh rebuilt run a ND oil in it(because that's what Henry recommended,"by gar") sometimes common sense has no place in a discussion we had a wheezy oil burning 8N we started using 20W50 oil in it( HD of course) worked great.

Pennzoil and Quaker State have both been owned by SOPUS (shell oil products) for some time now. Last time I read into it, Quaker State is basically just the same product as Pennzoil Platinum, but the base oil comes from petroleum instead of natural gas, and sells at a slightly lower price point. I am actually surprised there has not been more consolidation in the lubricant industry; still a massive selection at Wal-Mart and such when there really only needs to be a few options since there is little appreciative difference between an $18 jug of supertech and $38 jug of royal purple.

What annoys me the most about DIY oil changes though is that when I first started in 1999 (?), and we could buy this stuff at dollar tree (the $1 dollar tree)...

It was a ridiculous amount of plastic waste. In 2026, it's still cheaper and easier to buy 5 quart jugs instead of the larger shop packs that you would think would cost less per unit due to less material (and waste), plus they use space better for shipping.

I’ve yet to notice that much of a price difference.
A fram oil filter at Wally World or a Motorcraft from the parts counter last time I looked there was less than a $2 difference.
I buy two filters a year.
I’ll gladly spend the extra $4 to stay out of Wally World. The place is a zoo.

My first oil change was Motorcraft 0w20 with an FL910 filter. I think combined it was $43. Same thing with Valvoline Restore & Protect or Pennzoil Plat it's about $36-$38.

Motorcraft synthetic is good oil, better than Pennzoil Ultra or R&P? I dunno, probably not.
