That's a good scenario.
Crash avoidance systems are also capable of causing a crash.
A grocery bag blowing across the road can trigger an AEB system to panic brake which unfortunately doesn't stop the semi behind you.

Real world experience reported from a different car brand.
I guess your mileage may vary, but having had that tech in my last 3 Fords (this Mav, '22 Escape, '18 Mustang) and a Mercedes Sprinter 3500 I've never had a false positive like that. Maybe my "situational awareness" has been too good.

I've still got my 750 and I'm convinced that if everyone was required to pilot a bike for a year before they could drive a four wheeler, there would be a lot fewer car accidents but a lot fewer drivers, as many would not learn the required defensive driving skills necessary to survive.

When you are on a bike, those who survive either consciously or subconsciously adopt a strategy that simply stated is:
I am invisible to every vehicle on the road, except for those few who are actively trying to kill me.
Agree totally. Riding a bike allowed me to develop situational awareness (see what I did there?) to an extent I didn't have before.

Awareness definitely helps.
I think well implemented safety systems can make a good driver better, but unfortunately the other side of that gold coin is tarnished because evidence suggests that it makes a poor driver worse when they completely rely on them. Automated systems have their limitations.

The lack of false positives is good to hear, but there are others on his thread who were not as fortunate, although no reported accidents as a result from what I've seen.

The "nanny state" features are new to me with the Mav, and although they were added as a 4K tow requirement, I actually like most of them a lot more than I thought I would.

In the case of AEB, I'll take the warnings, but I don't have the brakes applied option enabled.
I doubt I would ever need it. I take defensive driving seriously, and I don't drive in city traffic.
For others, it may be better to enable it. In both cases, it's nice to have a choice,

Enjoy the ride!

In my Mustang, the avoidance system detected a car coming over from the right that was about to take my front end off. While I have really good reflexes for a dorky white boy, Ford was way ahead of me braking and saving my butt.
Y'all can be Luddites and want all of the tech of a '74 Vega, but I love this avoidance tech.
In your case it worked like it was supposed to.But for me when no one was in front of me and it slammed on the brakes and it scared the crap out of Me. And it must have been a electronic glitch and a terrible one IMO.

I was driving my granddaughter to piano practice yesterday afternoon in my 2025 XL 2.0 ICE AWD that is equipped with the tow package and the Co-pilot 360 option that is usually associated with that. We were cruising at about 45 mph on a 2-lane blacktop road, nearest vehicle in front or behind was at least 100 feet distant, and suddenly the banner for Collision Avoidance Assistance was displayed, It stayed on for maybe 3 seconds, then disappeared, and hasn't been seen since. I didn't notice any attempt by the computer to provide steering or braking inputs. I have never seen anything like that in the 800 miles I've driven this truck so far. Temperature was about 20 F, road was clear, although there was a good bit of snow on both shoulders. The truck was also clean of snow, but there were a few snow and ice particles flying around. Any idea what could have triggered that alarm? Should I be concerned enough to take in into the dealer immediately, or do you think it's safe to wait to mention it when I get my first oil change (which I'm planning to do at 1,200 miles or so, which will likely be in about a month)?

***EDIT*** If it could make any difference, (I don't know why it should) I had turned the lane keeping feature off when I got the truck.
I have had this a few times, What I found if there is snow, ice or dirt I'll get the alarm the sensor i above the rear-view mirror I use the windshield washer clean it and it goes away

Yes sir nice find Indeed.
I’d bet the Harley stuff works flawlessly
Unlike FORDS !

I rode pre ABS bikes :’P

Betting on Harley anything to work "flawlessly" would be a fools bet....

Remember AMF???

And yes I'm speaking from 30 years of HD ownership experience. Harley was the original " the customer can be our beta tester" motor vehicle manufacturer.

ETA: I believe Ford was second 😊

Now back to our regular programming....

We need someone to drive into a bunch of styrofoam to see what an imminent application is 🤣
I set up one of my big wheeled garbage bins, and let the maverick creep forward at the 1-2 mph for no foot on the gas.

It hit it.

Get us back the 70's with no car driving sensors needed it whatsoever
Sure there were.

My father, for example, used his ribs on the steering wheel and chin on the windshield.

No one is gonna been texting and driving anymore
Not from the pointy thing, but from the phone delivering a 10kv shock when tapping the screen when in excess of 10mph.

While I have really good reflexes for a dorky white boy, Ford was way ahead of me braking and saving my butt.
Brain recognition of a threat, decision making, and message to neurons and muscle moving are each, give or take, a third of a second under optimal circumstances.

The whole sequence for a good electronic system is a few milliseconds combined.

That gives the electronics nearly an entire second on you.

Someone shot out of a blind driveway into my lane, yet didn't accelerate once in traffic.

I saw it as it happened, but as my foot was moving between pedals, the brakes were already being applied.

Yes, I would have been fine, but it sold me on the value of the automatic system.

The other time was in stop & go on the freeway. On that one, I wouldn't have braked hard, and would have been fine.

OTOH, every single time a vehicle in the lane slows even a touch to turn, it overreacts with the brakes--to the point that I override before it even happens!

You got to be going a hell of a lot faster than 1-2 mph.
Skip to 6:26 for the Maverick test.

When I started riding motorcycles and learned to anticipate what those around me were going to do. I still have a gut feeling that says watch out for THAT vehicle. Nearly every time, a short distance later that feeling pays off.

Exactly - I'm convinced bike riders who survive have a bit of psychic ability to know what another driver is going to do before they do it. Expecting drivers to do stupid things also helps.

Active assessment of the vehicles around you is essential on a bike, and saves bent fenders on a 4 wheeler. It also helps to play "if they do this, I'll do that" and adjust road position accordingly.

Just the other day on the interstate a driver changed lanes right into me, but I was in the breakdown lane before contact. It also helps having good reaction times.

I have had mine pop up when a semi beside me in his lane tuned his wheel slightly to left before I got even with his cab where the curve started. 4 ft apart at 60-70 mph = warning time. A car slowing down while on shoulder to turn will also set it off. Also had mine go off on 65 mph 2 lane road with vehicle stopped to make left turn waiting for me to get through intersection. There was a slight curve in road where I was steering towards him about 200 feet from the stopped pickup. Lightly touch brake should turn warning pop up off.
