Personally I've always hated leather seats. They are hot in the summer, cold in the winter, and I slip and slide around on them too much. The Chevy Trailblazer I had with them had me constantly pushing myself up in the seat. I had to set the angle on the seat bottom to an uncomfortable angle just to stay put. Loved the car, despised the seats...so never again.
Stains just aren't an issue with me. I never eat or drink in my vehicles, and no dogs or children are ever gonna set paw or foot in them...so it's a total no-brainer for me.
As evidence, I'll gladly submit my '99 Accord with cloth seats. 24 years, and not a spot on them. 😍

I am also team cloth seats lol - like previous posters said - too hot in summer and cold in the winter and wearing track pants/shorts you just slide around

i had the same plastic/leather seats in my jetta before my maverick - i dont know how it happened but there was a tear that had started to form and the car was 1 year old with 30k on it - could have been from a button from my jeans but i never had it happen in any of my other cars

They are cheesy if they’re run of the mill cheap seat covers that are universal and sold at parts stores and big box stores. There are custom made leather or leather like seat covers that are made for the Maverick that look awesome! A little expensive, but very nice looking!
Where can I find the nice leather like ones? Looking for something nice for my new ride

To respond to the too hot, too cold, slippery complaints:

Too cold - that's what seat warmers are for, and they work great in the Maverick.

Slippery - ActiveX seems to have a bit of grip. I've had my truck almost a year, have driven in all types of pants, and have never had any issues with sliding around.

Too hot - I'll admit, I wish the Maverick had ventilated seats. But even on the hottest, muggiest southern day, they're not that bad even after sitting in the sun, and they seem to cool down very quickly.

Coming from a car that had cloth seats, ActiveX is superior in pretty much every single way in my opinion/experience. There's a reason cloth seats are relegated to cheaper cars and trims.

Everything I read here about ActiveX seems overwhelmingly positive, so I'll temper it a bit. Although it is comfortable and definitely easy to clean, I am withholding judgment until I have a better sense of durability. To me the material does not feel like it will be durable, and it retains minor scratches and scuffs more than I would expect, even though I'm being pretty gentle. It's a similar impression to what I get from the delicate interior plastics. Then again, I know this stuff has been used in some other upper-trim Fords for awhile, and there's not a lot of negativity out there - a good sign.

No lux package, so no heater in this clammy seat, either; I don't think I want to dismantle the seats myself to install a heater nor incur the expense of someone else doing it, so I'm just going to get one of the portable heated pads and see if that makes me happy enough. Just need something to take the edge off in the morning!

I ended up with a Lariat, but if I'd ordered myself, I would've been happy with cloth seats on a lower trim.

The biggest single thing that had me considering the Santa Cruz is ventilated seats. I'm in Houston so summer is tough. My Edge had synthetic leather seats and they were very comfortable, durable, but hot. A windshield cover made it manageable but still hot, and if in direct sun without the cover the seat would be painful with direct skin contact.

Ultimately the benefits of Maverick outweighed the benefits of Santa Cruz, but really wish I could have gotten ventilated seats. I decided if it's an issue I'll get Katzkin covers on front with ventilation added down the road.

Totally agree.
Southern Nevada 1:30pm not yet hottest part of the day which is 5:00pm still relatively cool about 92°.
These are the temperatures inside the cab of my Maverick with all the windows covered. Thermometer laying on the console no direct sunlight pegged it over 120° f temperature of the vinyl on the console of over 130° f
In July or August I'll take some more readings and see what the interior of the cabin is.
In my lifetime I've owned 47 vehicles. In the upper Midwest and out here in desert Southwest. Including convertibles with both leather, vinyl and fabric. I like the look the feel and the smell of leather but in the extremes fabric wins out.
The car I sold before I bought the Maverick was a Buick with black leather interior even with ventilated seats I still sweat on them.

Guess I'll be buying a thermometer that reads up to 150 minimum.
