We are now a two Lariat Maverick family. 22 Cactus Grey .. and now 11 months 2 weeks later after placing order, a Cyber Orange 2023 Lariat Maverick.
I am absolutely convinced the windshield glass in the Lariat Maverick is either soft or brittle or some combination thereof.
I have had vehicles that I've driven for years here in the southwest that have never needed a windshield replacement. Not counting the Mavericks, I can count on one hand how many rock chips I've had to have repaired in my lifetime. I've had a bunch of cars and driven a bunch of miles and I've never seen anything like this. The 22 Lariat Maverick is on its third windshield and has had seven chip repairs. This Maverick is mainly driven in the city, in town, and very little driving on the interstate or highways.
Today at 769 Miles, 2023 Cyber Orange Lariat Maverick took a rock chip. I was doing typical below 45 in city driving.
Who else is having an absurdly high number of rock chips and cracked windshields?
By the way I'm calling out the Lariat because it supposedly has special sound deadening glass. Perhaps it's an issue with all the Mavericks.

I think you just hit a streak of bad luck but maybe the acoustic windshield is more vulnerable. I just don’t know why it would be.

Mine got replaced at 1200 miles after a rock from a semi I was passing nailed it

Cracked my windshield 4 months ago and haven't replaced it yet. I'm still pissed since I just got my front windshield tinted a month before. Going to wait till it cools down to replace the windshield. Also got quite a bit of windshield pitting going on so this stock OEM windshield kinda fragile.

wow, stay away from me. been driving legally since 1966 and have had one hit that required one of those suction cup repair kits. it on my 2000 FX4 Ranger and was a diy repair.
of all the broken windshield stories I've read better than 90% have been jeep type vehicles and in the dryer western states. though following commercial trucks anywhere figures in.

I haven't had cracks, but it's quite pitted. The glass is soft.

Rock chip at day 4 of owning it, pretty minor one, $40 to seal it up. Took a major rock to the windshield yesterday, it will be replaced on Wednesday, $250 deductible. I've been reading up on it, because this is starting to really hit my bottom line, I'm not so sure it's the glass itself as it is the low profile of the truck and the angle of the windshield that invites rocks.

I just had the sun strip installed on my windshield on Thursday, big rock on Friday, sun strip $$ basically thrown out the window. ☹

And I'll add, I'd have to stretch back in terms of decades to find the last time I ever had a chip in ANY windshield. Across all brands and types of vehicles. It's definitely something with this particular truck. I filed a NHTSA report, as some have urged on this issue, because it clearly is a MAV specific problem.

I got 2 chips within the first 2 months, but nothing after installing the hood deflector. Could just be coincidence though.

Replaced mine at 1500. Really pitted and actually cracked from the outside edge. CARE-FULL. Order via VIN 3 different tints on Lariat based on destination when ordered. Also $800 to have windshield electronics recalibrated.

I really think it just comes down to the shape of the vehicle. My 2006 Scion xB is a rock magnet and currently on windshield #3 with a bit over 65k miles on it. The 2011 Nissan Juke I traded in for the Maverick still had the original windshield at 120k miles, only a small chip that got resin filled. Less than 2 months in and at under 2,500 miles I've already had to replace the Maverick windshield, even with the updated Aeroskin hood protector. Not sure if the older design with the bump would have saved it.

Tall windscreens and short hoods make easy targets for road debris.

Honestly don't get why there isn't more outrage on here about this. Glass is manufactured to fairly standard requirements, this appears to be a DESIGN flaw that makes the windshields particularly vulnerable. Are we really just supposed to say, oh well to it? Some states, very few, require zero deductible windshield replacement, but most of us have it covered under comprehensive and includes a deductible. How many $200 $300 $500 deductibles are people going to pay every year to get their windshield replaced?

I'm disgusted by this already. $250 OOP is a serious gut punch, and the thought of having to pay that multiple times a year as a design penalty is infuriating.

Ford made Gorilla Glass available for F150 a few years ago. Should make it standard equipment on the Mav before they get caught up with yet another class action.

Get the glass analyzed to confirm your suspicions.

My M5, I have gone through 4 windshields, its not the glass just lots of rocks being thrown up and being a perfect aim.

In AZ they have to offer full windshield protection no deductible but it certainly raises your premium.

WOW! Good to know. Best to have Ford replace it, rather then local glass shop.
I’m not so sure that dealerships don’t farm that out anyway. Safelite or any reputable glass shop should be able to take care of it.
