Will be changing oil soon on my 2024 XL Hybrid, not as slim as I used to be, besides the removal of the lower cover is it really necessary to raise the front end and if so what height ramps work the best. Thanks

Been doing oil changes 40+ years with a pair of steel ramps. will not work with the Maverick the bumper will catch on the ramp. Bought a set of the new plastic ramps off amazon, 6.25 inch lift, slightly lower and just enough to clear the bumper. And yes you need to lift the truck there isn't enough room for a normal person to do an oil change otherwise

The bumper doesn’t catch but the front fascia mud flap will catch on a steep steel ramp. I ripped a piece off of mine when I backed down off my ramps.

Now when I use the ramps I just lay a short 2x8 board ( about 1 foot long ) at the base of each ramp before I drive up. That little extra height allows for proper clearance when going up/down the ramp.

I use 6 inch plastic/resin ramps, and it is still close to a tight squeeze since I also use a creeper to roll under there. Creeper uses a couple inches of the space. I am not overly large by any measure of the imagination, but also am not rail thin.

I say ramps for sure if you also use a creeper. Very slight chance of doing it with no ramps if you are super thin and also plan to scoot yourself under there without a creeper. But your face is going to be right up in the filter and drain plug.

I use the plastic resin ramps on my equinox Ford fusion Ford explorer and will be using it on the Maverick as well along with my creeper I see no issues.

I use the resin ramps and have worked well for the majority of other cars I’ve worked on.
Quick question, how do you all document your oil changes for warranty purposes?

I use "redneck ramps" on the concrete floor in my garage. I take two sets of two 2x6's by about 12" long, criss cross them under each front wheel so one is ramped under each tire and drive up. That gives me the extra 3" I need and gives a gentle angle that helps the oil drain. I chuck a TORX bit into Milwaukee M12 series 90 degree drill and using low torque setting, zip the fasteners out, then in at the end.

Try using a piece of chalk to mark the holes for the fasteners if you can't shimmy all the way back to see them. Oil filter: After confirming I can break it loose, I use an awl and punch a hole just off center [pressure relieve valve is in the center] and drain the filter. That way oil doesn't coat the sides of the tranny and surrounding components.

I use a plastic produce bag, slip it over the filter and spin it off by hand. I buy a 910S Motorcraft filter and use 6 qts Mobil-1 0w20 hybrid specific oil [5 qt jug+1 qt]

Any suggestions on a ramp for a lowered Maverick? Two inches lowered in the front. I've seen some ramps specifically for lowered vehicles but they seem to not be tall enough to raise the truck enough for me to get under there and change my oil. I do all my own maintenance and trying to avoid taking it to the dealer. Thanks.

I used my steel ramps and some blocks of wood as buildup to not have the bumper hit the ramp when driving up or down. I think it was 2, 2x6 stacked and staggered.

For the people with the Tremor option you can clear any ramp with the better approach angel.
There are lots of options for ramps with low rise or a less steep angle for the rest of the Mavericks. I have both types of ramps because my other car needs them.
