Nope.
Lets put rumors to bed.
Most short distance high mileage trips for me are similar to this. Maybe I get to 160-165°F in the dead of winter.

How do you drive 11 miles at 16 mph? Is this LA freeway? In the 80s I drove I15 down into San Diego and the trip was just like that. I Got out.

It's quite typical city driving.
Everyone drives 16 MPH in the city.

35 mph - Stop.

35 mph - Stop.

35 mph - Stop.

It's called "red lights". 😅

35 + 0 + 35 + 0 + 35 + 0 divide by 6.

Wuddaya get?

Just stepping in since the drain plug could be easily stripped. 106 in./lb. on the drain. 26 ft./lb. on the fill/check.

Cheers.
I’ve seen on some other forums people double checking the transmission fluid level after taking a quick drive to get the operating temperature up. When you do the final transmission fluid level check on the hybrid, do you have the vehicle on or off? I saw a video for the HF35 transmission where they checked it with the vehicle off. What about for the HF45 transmission? On or off for the final level check?

I checked it off and believe that to be the correct procedure. Haven't seen any reference to an eCVT checked running.

My trans. temp. would have been at the very bottom of the range when I did it, even though I had warmed it up prior and kept the new fluid in the house due to the cool weather. I doubt a few degrees will make a huge difference in level, and hopefully these are not as particular about level as some automatics and CVTs. Will check it again sometime out of curiosity.

Cheers.

Glad to see that a lot of people are changing out the transmission oil. The transmission is the second most important component in our truck after the engine.

Due to hassle of doing it myself, I just take the simple route and have the Ford dealership drain and refill the transmission oil (around 4.5 quarts) every time I take it in for its regular engine oil change. The tech said it's overkill but he doesn't mind it since the splash guard/shield is already off. Plus, the cost is reasonable for the piece of mind. My Maverick has 20k miles so its already had 4 drain and refills. I provide my own oil for the engine (Amsoil Signature Series) and the dealership uses the factory Mercon oil for the tranny to avoid causing any warranty issues down the road.

Another day.... another dollar spent on gas....

Please see my other thread: 840 miles - 1 tank of gas.

@The Real Maverick I was just hauling about 1k lbs of payload (that's including occupants). The trans temp never went above 135F, even going through a mountain pass. I am somewhat confused because I thought the operating temp was between 180-220F, so I was expecting something a lot higher.

My transmission stays cool.
Towing on a hot day: 145°F.

Who set the "green zone" on your software? You or the software manufacturer?

That 175 - 220°F is the green zone for your engine coolant.

Just did our Ecoboost/FX4/4K- PTU/RDU- I highly recommend folks do this by 15k at the latest- It's not that difficult and the peace of mind is well worth it- Our PTU was underfilled by at least about 6 ounces- That's more than 15 percent of total capacity- Going to be towing a bunch this summer and was ready to have all new top notch fluids ready to roll ! Wasn't going to just let the dealer mail this service in- Needed to see for myself.

Dealership has the best price for ULV. Found that other makers have doubled their price recently for some reason.

At 30,000 miles when I changed my engine oil I noticed a small amount of trans fluid in the eCVT case. Not quite a drip but it was just slightly wet and when I rubbed a rag over it I saw it was clearly red. The fluid did not appear to be from the cooling lines.

After reading these posts I decided to change the fluid at 35,000 miles. The drain plug was less than hand tight and I removed it without using a tool. Drained just under 4qts with a lot of metal flakes and put back in 4.5qts.

I will check again at 40,000 miles but it appears that the drain plug was leaking fluid slowly. Doing a fluid change was easy and totally worth it in my case.
Just did a check at 40,000 miles and I have a slow leak. Drip just sat there for now, but the cover is showing that it is getting some fluid on it. Going to see if the bolts are tight.

Hopefully that's the case, otherwise it's likely the gasket.

175-220F is literally the ideal range for ATF. Also, there is no way your ATF is staying at 145F towing on a hot day, unless you are just doing a short drive around town on the Hybrid battery.

The maverick has thermostats for the ATF and heat exchange with the coolant to keep them around the same temps.

hybrid tranny leak

Is this your youtube video? If not you might want to check this out. Id guess its the rear main seal or Ford screwed up some case mating surfaces on the hybrids.
