Basically copy / pasted the DIY glove box light to my center console lid. Lincoln glove box light and a KIA switch. Under seat storage is next using Ford luggage lights and KIA switch. Tapped F20 in the BCM to power glove box light, center console and under-seat.

I guess I am late to the glove box light. Can you post the part numbers that you used?

Thanks in advance!

The crucial part is the KIA/Hyundai switch that works really well as a open/close on/off switch:

Part# 98510-21000
Ford Maverick Center Console Lid Light (DIY Install) 51xGLaLyv9L._SL1001_

After that you can use any 12v glove box light that will fit. I went with Ford OEM just because I like to pay a premium for Ford parts.

I used LC5Z-14A411-C for the center console and LC5Z-14A411-B for the glove box.

If you buy a Ford lamp just make sure it is a 2 wire lamp and not a 3 wire lamp. 3 wire lamps are controlled by data from the BCM.

Aaarrrggghhh.
Like the light in the fridge! Is it on or off when door is shut?
LOL, Yeah, I put my cell phone inside the center console and recorded a video to make sure it was turning off. I also added a 3M rubber pad where the switch contacts the console base. The KIA switch is pretty great it opens the circuit with just the slightest of pressure. I could have tapped fuse 1+2 which are hot only in Run/Start but decided to use F20 hot at all times. I should be okay power wise unless I forget to close my glove box for a week.

Very nice!
Ford did a poor job at ambient lighting in the cab.
I have a USB LED light plugged into my dash USB port for beautiful nighttime lighting. Cost me like $6 for two on Amazon.

I am currently doing the same thing using a USB adapter and the 12v powerpoint front and back. It works great but I have my heart set on adding factory ambient lighting. Best I can tell at this point is it will require adding the lamps, pins to the BCM for power and LIN data and then Forscan reprogramming. Maybe using BCM and APIM as-builts from an identical 2022 XLT for the programming. 2022 XLT’s had ambient lighting!

Good job. cutting and installing A contact switch is totally unnecessary. Installed one in my wife's Maverick lid.It has a tilt switch. It is smaller than a chapstick tube . Just hot glued it to the lid flat.So there's nothing showing but the light. When you lift the lid about sixty degrees , it comes on. Switch was seven bucks at the local electronics store. The only hole is it the lid and you can't see it?Because of the glued on l e d .

Interesting, do you have pictures? I read about others using mercury/tilt switches. I thought about it but decided to go with the KIA part.
As far as cutting goes, I bought a good condition lid from eBay for this project. I also bought a glove box frame for that project. It just about doubled the total cost but it took all the pressure off and I can just swap back original parts if needed.
