Car Wash Issue

Hi there! I like keeping my new (2022) Maverick XLT Clean. I'm a little worried about automatic car washes. I just drove it through a new Royal Farms car wash. It's the kind where your car stands still and the rollers, waters, etc work around you. When I got home I noticed a small sliver of rubber sticking out on the roof. It looks like the large blow dryers at the end of the car wash were so powerful it lifted out the little rubber trim piece in the right rear corner of the roof water track. Has this ever happened to anyone? I pushed it back in, but it is not very tight. My guess is a special tool is needed to push the rubber strip in tighter. It's really only a small, cheap, black strip 2-3 inches long and 1/4 Inch wide. Anyway, seriously thinking of hand washing at home. I love my truck, but I really think they cut corners on some things. I'm seeing a lot of car washes pop up everywhere these days. My guess is some vehicles are just more delicate than others when it comes to high power water, brushes, air, etc.

That strip of rubber seems to be a common issue. I only hand wash and it pops up on me and a lot of other Mav's.

I don't use automated car washes unless it's in the dead of winter and it's too cold to wash it by hand. Now I see that some of the car wash places don't have an under body rinse. Not worth the money. If you do not have any physical disabilities I suggest you wash your vehicle by hand.

Personally, I don't like or use auto car washes. I rather leave my vehicles dirty until I get 'round tuit.

Even the so called touchless car washes slap the car and cause micro scratches in the paint.

I realize my climate is different, no snow, no salt, so I might feel differently if I had low temps. In winter, such as it is, I use a bucket of warm water.

I might use a no touch auto wash but no spinning rags of scratching for me.

I'll use the hand wand bay to give it a quick spray, but don't use the dreaded soap brush that the guy before used to scrub the gavel out of his truck with. Maybe on the windows to help with bugs.

Best not use parking lots either.
This happened couple weeks ago and Sam's parking lot.
A lot worse than ANY car wash has ever done to any of my vehicles.
You may love your truck and care for it like a little princess.
Reality is, nobody else cares about it.

Yes, I had the same issue. I took care of the problem with a few dabs of super glue.

I had a ceramic coating done and now I use my power washer to wet, then the soap adapter to wash, then back to just water to rinse. I also do a pre wash for any bugs or dirt on the front and wheels, but with the ceramic it all comes off so easily. I then use my gas blower to blow of the residual water, drive it around for 5 minutes and then microfiber dry off. All in all, abut 40 minutes

Wow - that really sucks. sorry to hear that. Yeah, you're correct about being realistic - sh*t is gonna happen no matter how much we try to take care. Things r out of r control. Thanks 4 sharing
