Has anyone had issues with the cap-less gas filler? When I go to the gas station the nozzle will not open the filler. I had to jiggle it around and turn it upside down to finally get it to open. Took a few minutes. I tired the plastic nozzle adapter for gas can and that seems to work perfectly.

I'm about to take a long road trip and don't want to get stuck not being able to fill up.

Thanks

Read in manual the procedure. I would have to pay close attention but I think you must be holding the handle too high and contacting the door on the top too soon. Try coming with the pump handle lower and when putting it in use more of an action such as pouring water out of a pitcher. Good luck. (Hope I remembered it right).

Haven't had any issues with gas pump nozzles not fitting. I tried to add fuel from a harbor freight jerry can and that nozzle wouldn't fit in the hole, I had to use the funnel and SLOWLY pour it in to prevent it from spilling.

I never had any problems myself in my maverick or my 2014 focus for the last several years, but yes you need the funnel only when you're not using the pump to fill.

I have a plastic filler from my old Focus, it is not the same as the Maverick's. If you look at the Maverick's plastic filler you will notice there is plastic down the tube blocking the hole. I am guessing it is to slow the gas going in, but In reality it just causes it to spill out. my Focus's filler does not have this blockage. A pair of needle nose pliers made short work of the plastic inside the tube, now I don't have the issue and I have a spare.

I've had no issues at several different pumps in New Mexico and Colorado.

Never have had any trouble with the cap-less filler in the C-max, although the 2015 just has a door to open from outside, while the 2016 had a button inside to open the door. Didn't understand why it would take 5-8 seconds before the door would open until I read the Maverick owner's manual. Didn't realize it was to relieve the pressure before the door opens.

If you read this not knowing we are talking about a fuel filler…

I had the same problem, the pump nozzle on that pump was worn down and slightly flattened, look at it, it has to be round enough to make the tabs press to open the internal cap, go to another pump and report it to the station.

Nah, been using a ford capless for the last 8 years in various vehicles and it's never once been a problem. Try sticking the nozzle straight in rather than some goofy angle.
