Ford pass app has a separate modem than the WiFi hotspot. Will we, though? They're removing all the hotspots from the 2023 models due to the chip shortage. How will the app connect to the truck otherwise?

I was basically told you can add options up till the point a VIN is established. which maybe a while. BUt I could be wrong you just cant change trim or color or engine after the pre order.I ordered a 2023 Mavrerick Lariat hybrid with luxury package and, co pilot 360 w/assist. For some reason my dealer didn't understand that remote start is no longer included in the luxury package, so it's not on my order. Can I add the key fob remote start now that order banks are closed? What about after the order is delivered? Is it something that can be added easily?
The Wi-Fi Hotspot feature has nothing to do with FordPass Connect remote functionality. As has been repeated on here ad nauseam. Will we, though? They're removing all the hotspots from the 2023 models due to the chip shortage. How will the app connect to the truck otherwise?

Yeah, the connection between the car and the mobile network is still there. The only part that's being removed is the WiFi, so you won't be able to have other devices use that connection to the mobile network. So it seems to me that for anyone comfortable with using a smartphone the remote start with FordPass should work just as well. The FordPass remote start just won't work when the Maverick is out in the middle of nowhere where there's no AT&T service, whereas the keyfob remote start would work as long as the Maverick is in range to the fob.Ford pass app has a separate modem than the WiFi hotspot.
We are the opposite....we use the remote start to get the AC goingOK, I stand corrected. So yeah, the remote start dongle for $170 is pointless for me if I can just use the app and I don't even see myself ever doing remote start, but I don't live in a cold area where that could be very useful.
On my F150 Ford pass is only free for 5 years, that's a good reason to spend the $170 now to always have it.Yeah, the connection between the car and the mobile network is still there. It sounds like that was probably the case when you got your F150, but hopefully not for the Maverick:On my F150 Ford pass is only free for 5 years, that's a good reason to spend the $170 now to always have it.
What does the spec page say?Does anyone know if the FordPass remote start also works on a no option XL?![]()
That's refreshing to to read. Finally a auto manufacturer not trying to nickle and dime it's customers. It sounds like that was probably the case when you got your F150, but hopefully not for the Maverick:
FordPass Services Are Now Free (fordauthority.com)

One of the big features that Ford has been adding to cars since 2016 for some 2017 year model rides is FordPass connected services. When the services first launched, they were offered via one, two, or five-year trial subscriptions depending on the model year of the vehicle. Ford has now announced the FordPass Connect service is now free.
The move makes Ford the first automaker to offers its remote features to drivers at no cost. The Blue Oval points out that GM’s OnStar costs as much as $14.99 per month after the free 3-month trial with a new car ends. FordPass with FordPass Connect creates a single mobile platform where owners can start/stop/unlock their vehicles remotely.

But yeah - if you have remote start using the keyfob they can't take away your remote start if they decide to change their policy on FordPass.
lol....ok for a '22! Prolly deleted for a '23..... Plus I don't really trust any PR from Ford Corp.

Has anyone actually done it? I need proof.
