If you use the high beam as a trigger to a relay, and powered independently those high those ditch lights it would work fine
Yes, that would work if the high beams were activated by a 12v signal but, as already mentioned in post #5, they are not. You would have to open the headlight housing to access the 12V signal.

Get a $20 12v relay with a wireless remote from Amazon. Works well. Just make sure the lights get their power from the battery directly.

Exactly right!
Of course a 12v relay is the easy way to make any auxiliary lights work, but it won't operate the way the OP wants it to.

@bgn Is the thought with the remote to hold it in one hand and steer with the other so that the OP doesn't have to look down at a switch on the dash? Stick the remote to the steering wheel?

I like this idea but I agree it does not fit with the OP intent.

Since it's been pointed out on another thread that I'm old.😲
I wonder if, something like they had in luxury cars of the 50s and 60s could be used with the cheap 12 volt relay system?

There are two types of remotes: the stick-on puck type and a remote that can attach to your keys. I used the stick-on type before I went with the fog light workaround that requires a new light switch module, additional wiring, and Forscan.

Cool. Thanks for that. I have the BCM/F-150 switch setup as well, but I wasn't aware of the "puck" type remotes. They could come in handy for other projects.

Haha! Remember seeing those on cars when I was a kid, always thought they were cool!
