Bumper Exit Exhaust Done

Hey all, just sharing my most recent modification. I've been wanting to do a bumper exit for a while, seen a few others took suite as well. Eliminated the resonator, used some off the shelf exhaust parts, as well as a nice pre-bent section for a 90 degree. Everything came out pretty good. Coupled with a Thrush welded muffler, it has a very hollow stainless sound, very Focus ST. (Added side shot and audio clip here)

Given that we've recently seen a bunch of people with melted bumpers from the exhaust on EB Mavs, I'd be very hesitant to do this...

I didn't know this was an issue? Haven't seen anything personally. I know the area around the factory exit on mine seemed a little hot, however with the exit clearing the bumper, I don't see it being an issue.

This looks like it's driver's side behind the tire and it looks good - although a full side profile of the truck would be appreciated.

You could eliminate all the piping going under the rear differential if you had taken it out the side under the rear passenger door. I have seen kits doing that under the skirt, but I haven't looked to see if it's feasible to relieve the skirt or go actually through the center like you've done at the rear.

Looks like quality work. Though I must be getting old because these kinds of mods don't do it for me like they used to. I prefer keeping it subtle

Will be looking at doing this , but is going to take some nascar style oval/ exit as metal work for rear trailing arm may be necessary. We will see what is needed after rear arm extensions . Still working on front.

Muffler gets pretty hot, my Thermal R&D melted my bumper a little. Hopefully that ring diffuses the heat.

it's not an emissions component. it serves to reduce overall exhaust noise, and specifically resonance at cruising speeds.

it would be fully legal as long as the sound at the exhaust tip still complies with any federal and local noise regulations. there is no decibal number specified in my locale, just this nonsense:

Motor Vehicles. The use of any motor vehicle, motorcycle, bus or other vehicle so out of repair
or in such a manner as to create loud or unnecessary grating, grinding, rattling or other noise
which shall annoy, distress or disturb the quiet, comfort or repose of any person of reasonable
sensibilities within the vicinity.
