Aside from the apparently common glitches that our trucks have been experiencing, the one item I have been trying to get a handle on, is some form of reliable navigation. I have had numerous instances of Apple Carplay either glitching out or the truck system simply losing connection, usually when it is particularly important. With that in mind, I have been running the built in navigation in my Lariat, Sync 3 I believe. Aside from the maps being out of date, it seemed more reliable, until yesterday. I found an apparent GPS failure where the letters appeared in the corner of the screen with a bar drawn across the letters, and the map stayed on the screen but it did not follow my actual location, eventually being 50 miles off. I tried to do a system reset while on the move but it would not reset as I have done before. It refused to reset until I parked the truck and then resumed normal operation after the reboot.
I "think" I have done the reboot on the move but I may be mistaken about that. Is this also a common failure? Sync 3 has been around for 8 years, so it should be well vetted or is it just the quirky nature of the Maverick systems? I bought this vehicle specifically for summer use and travel but aside from my old Garmin, I have concerns about a nav system that actually works, all of the time. Is this common? I love the truck, even with some of its other quirks.
