1300 mile trip north. Looking for temp fix to protect against bug splatter?

I had herd horror stories that the AVS Bugflector II for the maverick didn't align up with the factory holes. I took a gamble after talking to the Folks at realtruc.com; they informed me the reason that they had no stock was that they were re doing the R&D to get the holes correct. Well I took the chance and I am very pleased to say that the holes lined up perfectly and the install took like 10 mins. Hard Part was getting the OEM lil clips out from the rubber weatherseal attached to the hood.I just got back from a 3400 mile trip to Phoenix and back. One thing we noticed was several times we heard what sounded like small rocks or gravel hit the windshield. The bug shields I have looked at are taped on. Ia there one that has a better fastening system?
I miss my Honda Element EX AWD. Best vehicle I have ever owned. That was also a first model year and I had zero issues. All my friends hated it until they got in it.I bought the standard bug deflector and saw it sitting flat on the front of the hood, so immediately return it. My Honda Element and LandRover had vertical standing bug deflector and did great at keeping bug and tiny gravel off the hood and windshield. WORKED GREAT but the Maverick bug deflector (sitting on the paint) did nothing. I resorted to Amazon for 3M protective film. Placed the clear 3M film on all paint surfaces on the front of the, and around headlights, and bumper. 3M roll 6 inches by 120 inch. Spray with water sprayer and it is very easy to apply with wet hands.
Did a 4,000 miles trip out west, including 1000+ miles of dirt/gravel roads and the 3M film was not phased with no damage. 3M has been on for almost 2 years and wife still has not noticed it...it is pretty invisible. Takes an hour to apply a role. Have another role for the front of the hood but after 3 years/22,000 miles I have no scratches or bug marks on the front lip of the hood. Highly recommend the 3M paint protection film. (It does not stick to black plastic trim pieces.) If it ever yellows or tears, spray it with water and it peels right off.

This worksOld trick-spray the the front end with WD-40 or some cookie spray...will help when you go to clean the front the truck up.... Won't hurt the paint
Yea I drilled the hole myself and that's why I wouldn't recommend it. I think AVS has addressed the issue in later production but lots of places still shipping out those older ones as they were never recalled. I think EGR makes a slightly better one according to the forums, but their window deflectors have not been the greatest for me. Fitment issues, again, I had to add tape and cut excess away. My window still hits them and rolls down during colder months. Annoying... but anyways...I had herd horror stories that the AVS Bugflector II for the maverick didn't align up with the factory holes. I agree. I had no intention of using 3M tape on my paint. Mine fit great. (I haven’t been through the carwash yet though. They say it is designed to stand up to that.)I had herd horror stories that the AVS Bugflector II for the maverick didn't align up with the factory holes.
