Having owned a Cmax hybrid, I knew pretty much what I was getting with my hybrid Maverick. While it is 191 HP and they don't add the electric motor torque to the 170 or so lbs ft. of torque listed, it does pull harder than most realize. The eCVT puts everything in the torque peak and keeps it there. Doesn't sound like it is doing as much as it it. The really good thing about the hybrid is how quickly it moves when you mash the throttle. No hesitation, just instant response.
I am sure I would have appreciated an Ecoboost for the power. But I had to flat tow so there was no choice. That said, I would order the hybrid again even if not flat towing. You have the benefit of the hybrid setup ALL the time. Not just when the throttle is on the floor!
My C-Max hit 119 several times over the years and didn't take very long to get there. Ford sold them with Z rated tires, not sure why?

I, for one, am internally grateful that Ford puts the 2.0 liter engine in the Maverick. Before production began, I ordered a Hybrid for the fuel economy. While waiting (17 months) for Hybrid I was able to test drive an EcoBoost and was amazed at the acceleration! Then I noticed that the Bronco Sport was offered in most trim levels with the 1.5 liter engine. I figured I had better get a 2.0 while it was still available. I really enjoy driving the EcoBoost even if it is a little thirstier. It just feels great!

I have not driven the ecoboost, but I drove a friends hybrid. I thought the thing had a lot of get up and go. I would have loved the hybrid, but need 4K tow. I almost sold my travel trailer and ordered a hybrid, but I like my travel trailer. I drive like an old man, so I don’t need the power.

Most of us drive like an old man because...

We are one.
I was hoping nobody was going to figure me out. I have been catfishing the MTC forums as a 23 year old blond model.

I thought I read somewhere that 70% of the MTC crowd is over 65 years old. Maybe that was for people who bought a hybrid.

We know you are not 23, or blond. Your camera is on and we can see you all the time. Which reminds me, put a different tee shirt on.

That one has spaghetti sauce on it.

It’s not spaghetti sauce… it is pizza sauce. And it is only 3 days old. I was PLANNING on saving it for a snack if I got hungry later.

If I still had hair, it may be blond, I can’t remember, it has been so long.

Hey, I resemble that remark!

But...

While I can no longer run sprints or bench press my weight, my right foot still works very well. There are often opportunities to firmly depress the accelerator safely and legally, and I like to take advantage of them. While by current standards the Maverick EcoBoost is not a fast car, it's fast enough and it feels fast to me. Just a lot of good clean fun and over 30 MPG, I'm impressed.

It's my first turbo automobile. So you can teach an old dog some new tricks.

Most of it's power comes at high rpms. Low end torque isn't special but these things can really pass at highway speeds.

I remember the first time I tried a highway pass. After being used to driving my old car (which was fairly anemic and needed the pedal to the metal to get around anything) it was surprising to pass someone and find the speedometer flirting with 90 without trying hard.

Well, that depends on your definition of old. Mine is anyone, who's ten years older than me. 😏 While I drive slow, it because the fricken traffic in the city and even the section of I95 where I live....

Turbocharged engines typically have a very flat torque curve. Most achieve peak torque around 2,000 rpm and maintain this until peak hp is reached while opening the wastegate to avoid over boosting the engine.
NA engines reach peak torque and hp at much higher rpm because they require increased engine speeds for increased breathing.
Electric motors give you basically instant torque on demand.

Just to think, Bob was able to do that without a 545 hp V8 monster that gets six gallons to the mile.

Never cease to be amazed at the Maverick.

Maybe I’ve just owned a series of lackluster engines, but I really do like the zip of the EB AWD - especially in some of the more sticky modes. The most “powerful” truck I’ve owned is my 4.3L S-10, and it isn’t exactly a hot rod :)
Car&Driver recorded a 5.9 0-60 and if I remember correctly a 14.5 1/4 mile.
One of the quicker pickups sold that’s not a special performance model.
