Only if you're being recorded for posting to YouTubeDo you know if backing down a boat ramp will be affected by the auto braking?
I had this same thing happen with a bike rack in the hitch and tailgate up. Extremely annoying! I put it in trailer mode to fix it, but doing that loses the blind spot warning which I value. Not one of Fordās better ideas. The other day I was taking a couple of bicycles with tail gate down. As I backed out of my driveway it automatically stopped with a warning apply brakes. It did this every couple of feet until i was fully backed out and ready to go forward. It surprised the heck out of me the first time. I have no idea what enabled this. Is there a switch I accidentally pulled?
I'm guessing that since your camera was looking down at the ground, it got confused. As your backing out of your angled driveway, when you transition to the flat road, there is going to be a moment when the camera is closer to the road. Maybe that confused it. was your door open or your seat belt off?
Both of these will put the car in park unless you have the door open before you put it in reverse.
Is this a Lariat only feature?Mine does this, too. The tailgate being down cuts down the angle the sensors use, causing them to react. Mine was doing it on my driveway and my wife was asking why I kept stopping. It is kind of irritating, but I want it on when backing out of a parking spot.
I don't have the rear bumper sensors on my '23 Lariat, so this has not been an issue for me. As someone else mentioned, I think you may have an option to disable this feature in your settings as needed. Is this a Lariat only feature?
Mine ('25 Lariat) slammed on the brakes a few times when I backed into my driveway. The offending 'obstacle' was leaves of my hedge. I'm more careful backing in now.The other day I was taking a couple of bicycles with tail gate down. As I backed out of my driveway it automatically stopped with a warning apply brakes. Ya my 22 was always fine this 25 canāt go two feet and brakes lock upEvery week I back up from a shed to a building some 75 yards away with my tailgate down.
A tone goes off but nothing else.
I have all my 2024 Lariats safety features on.
Including back up assistance.
Never a problem.
Front wheels hanging over the tailgate? How can it see them when they are in the back of the bed and tailgate is down?
NoFront wheels hanging over the tailgate?
They should hire a few of us old codgers to watch over the design young uns. Iād smack em on the knuckles with a ruler every time they tried to add safety features.Ya my 22 was always fine this 25 canāt go two feet and brakes lock up
