This is my first hybrid and I was just wondering if anyone else's does this. Basically like the title says, when I first start the truck for the day and come to my first stop while my foot is on the brake pedal it kinda fights back a little bit almost like it does when ABS kicks in but lighter. I know there are some threads of "lurching" I'm not sure if this is that same as that or not.

Thanks!

I have always got a little grab when coming to a complete stop. I don't think this is uncommon.

This is more of I let off the brake to creep forward it does a little jitter on my foot as opposed to a smooth creep on my Ecoboost vehicle.

I know this doesn't help but I can say my 25 is so much smoother with the brakes than my 22 was. I don't notice anything odd as of yet. Seems as smooth as any other non hybrid vehicle I have owned.

How cold is it out?

Cold engine not likely related, but cold can be.

If HVB is cold and unable to take a charge or as much as possible, but it may be warm enough to provide some power.
If you are coasting down to a stop, that would normally charge the HVB but it's not allowed to.
So your engine may be turned into extra braking to throw that power to.
But as you are coming in for final slow speed that will stop as physical brakes take over.
That interaction of 3 things can cause some unusual vibrations in unusual situations.
I'd only noticed that infrequently when warmer, coming down long hill HVB topped off and engine RPM going but not firing.
But as it's colder now, and on days I don't see much charge going to the HVB while engine is running - happens much more often until HVB warmed up enough to take the full charge.

The regenerative braking stops around 3 MPH, and it switches to only being manual brake pads on rotors at that point. If this is the first stop after it has been sitting for a while, it is most likely you feeling the physical brake pads rubbing off the surface rust/moisture/etc.... on the rotors.

Its not as much when braking as much as it is when letting off to scoot forward while stopped. And it's around 25F today.

Is engine running because it's cold?

So just the traction & if engine running generator motors.
If cold those can cause some vibration in the eCTV, sometimes easily felt switching to Neutral.
But since it's providing power if it's spinning, to mimic ICE cars there is some pull against the brakes to allow that creep forward. It's enough to start up a hill after the Hill Assist brake lets go.

If engine running also the damper/clutch plate.

If related to cold those do finally go away. Do you notice it later in a drive?

My 2023 hybrid does it every time I stop shortly after starting the truck. Drives me nuts if I go to a drive through shortly after starting, and it's especially annoying if you brake on an incline, because it seems more noticable to me. Mines been doing it since I bought the truck, and about 10-15 min of driving seems to resolve it. I just chalked it up to being a hybrid, because it's my first hybrid and I've never experienced it on an ice vehicle lol

Edit- because I can't spell

Ah that sounds similar to mine so it must not be the cold as much as just warming up the engine.

Nope, that's why I figured it was cold engine causing it. But it sounds like this is normal behavior. Its not a huge deal i just wanted to be sure nothing was wrong with my new truck.

That is very possible, I will have to see if its any less when its dryer and slam on the brakes a few times to see if it goes away.

Sometimes my brake pedal starts to make a buzzing sound and I can feel it vibrating when I’m stopped at a light, and the only way to get it to stop is to press the brake pedal down harder. Anyone have any experience with this?

It very well could be that the HVB is still too cold as well with limited amps available to smooth out the creep. If so another vote for Block heater.

This is similar to what I talking about. I do think it makes a small noise but was more concerned about the feel than the noise.
