Anyone do brake pads yet? Does this thing need a scanner to retract the caliper pistons/recalibrate the caliper position or can you just do it manually?

Here ya go:I will probably be finding out sooner than later. One of the first things I would like to do is install Ceramic pads on my Maverick. Front, at least.
What's the advantage of ceramics over semi metallic? Is the rock auto chart accurate saying they have less dust and noise but don't stop as well? Does the mav comes with organics?- mine create a hell of a lot of dust since I do tons of stop and go driving. It would be nice to cut down on the dust. Here ya go:

My post with a bunch of parts including the brake pads I got. If you can find them elsewhere to avoid Rock Auto shipping, I recommend doing that. But I could not find them on Amazon when I was looking and everywhere else wanted shipping too. Napa is the only option near me and they wanted almost triple for a set of pads I've never even heard of. Hell to the naw. Happy to report the rotors on the Maverick are holding up much better than the ones on my Escape were after a year and a half![]()
How does this square up with the "Right to Repair"? @Ford Motor Company ?Thread should be a sticky:

Definitely check to make sure yours can enter brake service mode. There is an SSM because @Ford Motor Company refuses to make it a TSB for ones that won't go into service mode, so the only option is FDRS. Forscan will not work.
You do not need to enter service mode for the fronts. But there is a thread with reports of people including myself that cannot get their trucks to enter service mode, and the service dept. did confirm it being an issue.
SSM 51217.
I suspect the issue is more than '22's alone, but considering how many people will just pay someone 400% more for an hours labor, don't expect a fix.
My old explorer has that. It's a surprisingly simple system. If the computer or battery goes on the mav I guess you won't even be able to put the brake on.Thanks for this. I long for a simple cable e-brake…
i was wondering the same thing about ceramic vs organic pads. also since mine is hybrid i'm curious as to how much or little effect regenerative braking will have on brake pad wear. my guess would be less pad wear but i have no idea if thats correct or not. What's the advantage of ceramics over semi metallic? Regen reduces brake pad wear a lot. Someone posted (either on here or the reddit subforum) that their 2005 Escape Hybrid's brake pads lasted 200,000 miles....since mine is hybrid i'm curious as to how much or little effect regenerative braking will have on brake pad wear...

If our Prius (es) are any indication, (still no Maverick) with the regen braking there is no dust problem either.Regen improves brake pad wear a lot. Someone posted (either on here or the reddit subforum) that their 2005 Escape Hybrid's brake pads lasted 200,000 miles.
