Maybe a little automotive polishing compound or scratch remover with light pressure over the area followed by your preference of wax. It won't take the dent out, if it has one, but should make it less noticeable.

Possibly what appears as a color difference is just the way the light hits it. I'd have it PDR'd. (Pantless Dent Repaired) and the discoloration will either disappear or it won't and leave it because with out the dent you probably won't notice it. (If, it bothers you enough to have anything done about it.)
"PANTLESS" dent repair I don't care if the repairer is not panting while he works or is not wearing pants as long as he wears something.

The first time is always traumatic.
Bringing back my proposal to have option S1001, factory installed scratch, so that we don't have to worry about the firs tone . . .

Don't get the Ford touch-up paint, since its 5x as expensive as you expect. There are other companies making very good touch-up pens for a lot less.
Having said that, it looks like it was hit with a piece of wood or something. The discoloration will most probably buff out without a paint touch-up. The paint surface does not look broken, so you should be able to get one of those paintless ding repair guys that the dealers use to look at it. They do amazing work.

My dad put a small dent in the bottom of his new car just out of sight... He claimed it would stop the next ding... LOL

Ever see the WC Fields film where he gets a million dollars over night... Goes out and buys a new car and is hit as soon as he rolls of the lot. Walks back buys 20 cars and hires drivers to follow him around. He then proceeds to smash into every bad driver he see, gets out of the car and into the next of his cars and repeats until all 20 cars are destroyed. Ya I have have that dream too

It is hard to tell, is there a crease? If not I have seen hot water and dry ice used to make it pop. won't work if there is a crease. I use to had a rubber mallet and various shaped rubber "pucks that I used to get small dents out but that looks more trouble then is't worth. Is the location the outer most part of the door/car? Would trim cover it and stop future doors from hitting your truck?

I keep my Maverick in the garage. The only time it's outside is running errands and when I'm working in the garage. It's such a sad thing to find a ding in my 2 month old and no one to take responsibility for it. The altruist in me is gutted.

But thus is life ...

So how do I fix it?

It's a VERY small ding that would probably be impossible to see given its location, but there's a discoloration that SEEMS to be additive and not bare metal or anything like that. I rubbed it a bit and it didn't come off, but I'm sure there's a proper method that I don't know about. Never really cared about my vehicle this much to learn.

Also, what's the best way to get touchup paint? The dealer?

EDIT: Picture incoming. Couldn't get one because it was dark.

If it makes you feel any better, when my 23 Lariat Lux and I took a trip from N.M. to Sacramento CA. (starting mileage was about 1K) I was just N. W. of Barstow CA. and I got caught in a brief but zero vis dust storm at 65mph. By the time I slowed down it was over and kept driving. Ten miles or so up the highway was an area where it looked like they carved through a hill and all of the sudden another dust storm was upon us and like before, by the time traffic slowed it was over. I arrived in Sacramento about 4:30 and decided to get the truck clean before visiting to get bugs and dust off the truck and when it came out the other end is when I noticed the 10 million little pits in the windshield and all forward facing surfaces. Not new anymore.

Count your blessings; I left mine out during a storm last night and was rewarded with quite a few dings from hail. On a brand new 2025 Maverick Hybrid with fewer than 2,000 miles. Time to get insurance quotes for me at least.

I have parked in the sunlight for couple hours and then dry iced the dents. Turn vehicle around and repeat.

Being a body shop manager for a dealer for 35 years and having a PDR guy come every week I don't think he can help you from what I can see its more a crease than a ding but can't hurt to have them look at it. Don't look like the paint broken DONT touch it up it will look much worse! and be more noticeable. Can try a little white polishing compound on the tip of your finger might make the mark look better or just leave it. My truck is going to be 3 years old in a few months and got my first tiny ding few weeks ago haven't washed it since so pissed off. I park so far from other cars friends say they're going to call Uber to take them the rest of the way and some AHOLE still parks next to me.

I am with you BigLog7. Our truck was parked outside during the same storm across the river in Illinois. I have a lot of dings from the hail also. Haven't washed the truck yet to see how bad it really is, but plan to do so in the next couple days then go to the insurance to see about PDR. Makes me sick that my 4,400 mile truck is beat up. But what can you do?

I was luck enough to have a garage to keep my car out of that mess. Maybe the bright side is that since you have enough damage, your insurance is going to foot most of the bill? If you'd have only had one or two, that's probably all out of pocket.

I don't know. Silver linings still suck.

I think I'm going to try to just live with it and try to get the discoloration at least out. It's not obvious at all without that, I think. I assume PDR would only help the dent part and I would still need to deal with the discoloration.

Im a bit of a perfectionist but have learned to chill on the small stuff…
Just IMO - this is really small stuff.
I get why your bothered but it happens to everyone 🤷‍♀️
looks to me a bit of light compound may just take care of it ☺👍
