I haven't 100% confirmed this but I think if you use the volume adjustment buttons on the steering wheel those will make the android auto louder. if you use the knob on the dash I think that will control the radio (if you have that on) or maybe it's more of a master volume. I haven't completely confirmed yet as I don't use android auto that much since I have to physically plug it in.
I am on my way to see if that takes care of it. Much thanks for your reply. Happy Mavericking.

My 23 Lariat Hybrid’s GPS is still working. Agree with others that phone based navigation systems from Apple, Google, or Waze significantly more accurate and find addresses my built-in does not.

that is how it is on my rav4 as well. this seems like the way a lot of brands are headed. on slightly older rav4s the built in nav would always work but at some point you wouldn't get map updates anymore. now they all seem to just completely cut off your ability to use it if you don't subscribe.
Just as well. Apple and Google probably keep their maps updated better. The interstates between Ashevlle and Knoxville have been washed out since the last hurricane came through and both Apple and Google have updated their maps to reflect that. I doubt that OEMs have updated their maps.

But, it has to have a receiver and that is the screen in the truck. I am way too old to know how to realize technology today, so I accept what I can understand. Now I need to figure how to increase the volumn from the screen so I can hear the directions better/clearer.
My directions are a lot lower volume than the music I am playing and I would like to be louder as well

My son, who is a tech, says that when the voice is heard is the time to turn the volumn up on the steering wheel, not when it is not speaking. Uh, okay.

I will try that next time I use the maps, though most of the time I know where I am going and don't have them on.

This is the way my vehicles have worked for the last 9 years. There will be a submenu somewhere to adjust the sound as well. Just have to find it.

Purchased and took delivery of a 2025, XLT, LUX package, 4k, copilot. I can't for the life of me figure out where the connected navigation is i have the complimentary connected services and want to try out the ford navigation. I have already used the android wireless and it gives me navigation, but I want to not use my phone in the truck. I thought for sure the XLt with lux, included navigation, but i see nothjng on the screen that indicates it.. on my ford app, I see connected services is active

I punched a 22 Lariat with all options and there was no navigation installed. I liked her truck and bought a 23 with the same build sheet and it included navigation. I don't use it as it's not the best. Cannot add a stop, search restaurants, erc..My phone works a lot better for everything. You're not missing much.

I went out and adjusted the volumn on the steering wheel when "she" spoke and it raised her voice to sound like my wife. Now I hear and understand.

Huh? GPS is GPS... the signal from the satellite is there, you just need a receiver for it, not really different from a AM or FM radio signal., doesn't matter if it's a Garmin, TomTom, or an in-dash infotainment system. If somebody is trying to charge you a subscription fee for that you are getting ripped off. Yeah, I know you have to pay for Sirius/XM but that's different.
Ya GPS signal is floating around and any receiver designed to listen can get it.

And then what are you going to do with it in the free model?

If you are getting services from the use of the GPS signal - you are paying in some manner.
Google or Apple maps selling info, or just outright paying for a service that doesn't sell your info. Or claims not to. Or seeing ads.

Maps are stored somewhere, CPU power with routing is happening somewhere - that all costs real money.

I have onboard navigation in my 24 Lariat for almost a year and there isn’t any subscription.
The subscription gives you the real-time traffic information. The navigation will work without it.

I tried the volumn knob and the radio got louder. Now, when she was talking, I used the volumn knob and the radio went up. The solution I found was using the steering wheel + to increase her voice while she was talking. It works that way for me.

You’ll probably get an email pretty soon asking if you want to extend the subscription ….for money. I believe you only get a year free.
