Both my car and Maverick have nav, and I don't use either one since they aren't current. I use android auto with Motorola MA1 in each vehicle. Prior to that I used a Garmin, and I do miss the altimeter when driving from the Midwest to Florida or the Outer Banks. I do wish Google Maps would show altitude.

Just use Google maps. They're updated faster than any other navigation app. Last place for timely updates is Apple maps.
Yep the number of people connected to Google updates the distance of stopped or slowed down traffic ahead and offers alternate routes. I got told the next exit and access road for a mile or so was quicker last week.
Edit:
It even shows radar trap (if someone has pushed the "radar is here" button until someone else pushes the button "radar is no longer here"). 😇

You're not missing anything Ford Nav isn't very useful and seldom updated.

I have the Ford Nav, and it doesn’t do a very good job routing. Slightly more convenient than plugging in my iphone, but the routing is bad enough to make car play worth the effort.

I do see a dongle in my future.

Navigation and traffic are add-ons to the SiriusMX subscription. Only available in the 2024 Hybrid on the Lariat.
Noting the comments on Ford updates.
I am still evaluating and in the trial subscription phase. I have a lifetime update package for the Garmin that I took out of the trade-in. Will probably drop the SXM Navigation and Traffic and just use phone and Garmin. FYI all you phone only types, there are places you cannot get cell coverage, especially in the mountains and out west. There, a Garmin always works.
Offline maps always works.

This👍🏻

For those people still futzing with a garmin or other dedicated navigation device, Google Offline Maps can't give traffic, speed traps, crashes or road hazards when offline, but it works anywhere GPS works. And offline maps are automatically updated over Wi-Fi periodically; or manually, if you choose.

I just traded in my '23 2.0 and picked up my hybrid. Went to use the navigation and it's gone. Says to install the app. What?
Hello! Send us a private message with your VIN and current mileage. Allow me to see what I can do to assist. Thanks!

You’ve been trolled by the FordBot. 🤣

Send us your demographic info, your usage info and vin….

Then we will reply and tell you to take it your nearest Ford dealer.

Then after running a day’s worth of diagnostics, the dealership will tell you that your XLT doesn’t have gps.

Doesn’t Android have a compass app? On iPhone the compass app is built in and shows heading, city, gps coords and elevation.

Updating navigation maps can be ridiculously expensive, and they quickly become outdated. Ford, for instance, charges $150 to update the maps in my kids 2011 Fusion Hybrid, but even after paying that, the maps would still be five years out of date. Using your phone with Apple CarPlay is a much better option, even if it requires plugging in with a USB cable.
I never plug in my phone to run car play. I use the Waze app. Same technology that Google maps uses ever since they bought Waze in 2013. I park my phone on my dash with a MagSafe mount. The position is easier to see without taking your eyes off of the road and the voice commands are still broadcast over the stereo by Bluetooth.

I'm sure it does, but I'd like to see elevation displayed on the google map screen.

Very few people actually use built-in navigation, so it's actually nice to see Ford not wasting money or effort to put it in. That also reduces the price of the vehicle when you get down to it.

If you don't use a GARMIN, you don't get to play with your multi-hundred dollar cell phone toy. For those born with a cell phone surgically implanted in their hand, they just can't see anything else.

OEM navigation is horrible and they take forever to update it and even then it's behind Google maps. The process for updating OEM is long and still missing some newer streets always your best to use Android auto or Apple CarPlay.

Updating maps on the smartphone is way faster and more current than anything OEM. I've had OEM navigation on GM vehicles as well as Ford and neither compare to Google maps. You're not missing anything by not having OEM navigation.
