I asked for the least expensive option, being on a tight budget and all. Here in Huntsville most folks go to the Linex over in Decatur, a bit cheaper and faster.I wonder if they quoted you the premium. Here is the estimate I got via email:

Line-X is installed by dealers and some of them may be busy enough to raise their prices to control demand and/or make more money while they can.
The cheapest I've ever heard of for Line-X was $450. A lot of people pay $550-600. Call around.

I paid $450 for Rhino Lining in Florida, but when I called all the Line-X dealers around me they quoted $650 so its not too far off. Maverick has a lot of nooks and crannies and they have to remove the bed ties so its a little more work even though its a smaller bed. The Rhino guy also said Line-X standardizes prices by region to eliminate undercutting eachother.

Dunno. I was thinking about a tonneau cover but I might not. I'll see how it works with Scouts.

I see they sprayed right up to the rear window. Hopefully that doesn't affect the installation of a tonneau cover. Most usually have a seal that gets installed along that edge. I have no experience with trying to install a seal on the Line-X material. I suppose you will find out if you go that route.
The factory SIBL stops at the top of the vertical edge and leaves paint along the flat surface next to the rear window.

I had a Chevy that had Rhino Lining in the bed. About a year later, we hauled some compost in it... My wife cut through the liner (in several places) with her shovel as she was unloading it. Went back to the place that sprayed it, and he said I would have to pay for a repair, since it was "intentionally inflicted" damage. After arguing with him for a while, I just left. I'll never use Rhino again, nor recommend them. The factory SIBL in my Maverick seems thinner, but WAY more sturdy... I just wish they hadn't left so many areas uncovered...
That's interesting, because I have taken chunks out of my Ford factory SIBL. I can't see metal, or honestly even tell exactly where the material was removed, but on several occasions I have definitely found little hunks of rubber after carrying shovels and rakes, or other metal tools.
I think it isn't remotely close to as tough as Line-X which has a hard, rough feel. I only have it because it was included in Lariat Luxury in '22.

I'm seriously considering not adding the tonneau. This weekend was likely the one weekend I would ever need it as future long trips will take place in the Explorer, which has ample interior cargo space. I'll only ever use the trucks for truck things and Boy Scout camping. Neither of which necessitates a tonneau.
