With everything so computerized - there could be a useful setting.

If driving relatively straight for some time limit, or a slight steering wheel turn is opposite the blinker direction - turn blinker off.

Or keep it loud for the folks that never look at their dash due to other distractions.

I'd say talking on the phone is about as distracting as talking to a passenger. Radios might also be considered distracting but they have been in cars for a really long time. The onus is on each individual to understand their own limits of focus.
At least the benefit of the phone is hopefully preventing the driver from trying to maintain eye contact with passenger.

Though at that point they are probably a distracted conversationalist either way - driving is going to suffer, and those folks will likely never notice or admit it.

While the onus may be on the driver - the rear-ended Maverick that get's totaled is the result.

lol I would be so intimidated if someone was driving and trying to make eye contact with me in the car.

Can slide into a 2024 TRD Off Road (the base trim I would take) for around $42k which puts it around $3k more than my 25 AWD Hybrid Lariat.

However that $42k TRD off road comes with a spartan interior awash in hard plastics that folks complain about on the $20k maverick. It comes with an 8 inch screen, lack of options, and no space in the rear.

It does have a ladder frame, rear locker, Toyota’s awesome crawl control/mode, and 4L, but not 4A.

It comes with a turbo 4 I’d like to avoid and gets 20ish mpg.

No doubt it is MORE truck with the frame, locker, crawl mode, tow capacity - but it is not a step up in quality. In time that additional truck will be more appealing to me as I transition to my mountain property full time but that would mean a trim and options approaching $50k.

That’s why the Mav AWD Hybrid Lariat with the efficiency, practicality and capability is well worth the $39k.
On my OTD $40,300 lariat first edition I just replaced OEM Michelin Primacy with 225/60R18 continental true contact tour54 840-A-A 80k mileage 26.4 lb tires. Had them for 500 miles and think are going to be really good. Will never know if the 235's would have been prudent at only 27.2lbs and 29.1" diameter. Most likely would have been better at highway speeds at least.

You might say that, but studies indicate otherwise. A passenger in the vehicle also notices what's going on around the vehicle, and will shut up when things get dicey or alert you to hazards. Someone on the other end of a phone call cannot do those things.

I'm nervous - I try to help by NOT looking at them but straight out the window.
If it seems like they have a real problem looking out, I'll put expressions on my face like they are missing something.

Complaining about blinker noise? Expect some honest and brutal replies. :sneaky:
Maybe find the noise module and wrap some kind of soundproofing around it.

People keep telling me the blinker noise is very loud and annoying when on a phone call. Especially if at a long traffic light waiting to turn. Anyone else hear this complaint and does anyone have a work around for it?
Wow, how can this be fixed!!
