I now know more about Maverick lug nuts than I ever thought a person would have to know so I thought I'd share my new-found expertise with you.

The stock chrome lug nuts are two-piece affairs, meaning the basic cheap, ugly lug nut is wrapped with a chrome cover and that can become a problem. Over time water can come between the actual nut and the chrome cover, which can then freeze, expand, corrode, and deform the chrome cover to the extent your lug nut wrench will no longer fit over the nut and thus, makes removing your wheels next to impossible. That's a real drag if you're trying to change a flat time. The cheap, easy answer is to replace the stock lug nuts with one-piece nuts while you still can.

Size: M14X1.5, but that's the easy part. They have to be the right shape as well.

Pictured below are the wrong lug nut, the stock lug nut, and the proper replacement lug nut.

So will these one’s for the XLT wheels? Also in the pic is one of them already chipping?

I bought these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DIX0ZSS?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

These are highly rated and resistant to chipping and scratching. However . . . these are NOT exactly like the OEM that came with the vehicle. They are better quality BUT come with a price. Note that when looking straight on you can see the silver metal of the wheel rim bordering the lug nut. I like that little silver/chrome accent border around the lug nut. Not too much like OEM lug nuts. So if quality is what you want and don't mind paying more AND don't mind the aluminum accent bordering the lug nut, then go for the McGard 64074. The border around the lug nut compliments the brake disc.

Gorilla 61148BCX is what you want for factory aluminum wheels. These have the large, wide 60* seat like OEM and aren't cheap ones that chip, rust right away. The wide flange also conceals the bottom shoulder of the wheel hole that usually isn't painted from the factory.

So does Gorilla make a spline type lug nut that will match the Maverick factory lug nut size or is this too short for that? I know the lug nut thread is M14x1.5 but it is not clear what the length should be. I'm finding lug nuts in various lengths. What is the factory length?

I put my Steeda black lugs off my Mustang on my Maverick and they are 1.4" long I believe. They are also the 2 piece lugs and not the 1 pc as I didn't want to spend that much for lugs when I may eventually change wheels and have to change lugs then anyway.

I have a 2023 Maverick Hybrid black appearance package and want to change my chrome lug nuts. My tires are 225/60R18 which came on truck. Would these fit ? I want matte black finish.

Barbara I am using these right now. I live in Arizona so I don’t anticipate the rusting issues here. These look decent but don’t cover the chrome entirely but certainly improve the look. They can be removed before taking your truck in for tire rotation. I worry that the shop would mar up the actual black lug nuts anyway. Not sure I want to rotate my own tires. Another plus’s is they are only like $12
