The 2025 2.3 Turbo EB in the Mustang is rated at 315hp. The 300T Performance Package, using the 2.3’s bigger turbo, brings the Maverick up to 300hp:)

I’ve lived a mild mannered automotive life - never owning a 300hp vehicle. Never needed one. Still don’t.

But I may need to amend my bucket list. If the 300T turbo/intercooler installed is closer to $1000 than $2000 - I might pull the trigger;)
Sounds like you've only had some commuter vehicles. My first used car was 360HP in 1982. First new truck was 360HP in 2000. Sounds like the 300T is a step in the right direction. Might even make it high 13 second 1/4mile capable. The Real fun starts in vehicles over 300hp though.

I am happy the 2025 Hybrid Mavericks got a nice power bump even though they do not advertise it. It's useful torque.

In my mind the Maverick will never be a performance vehicle. It just is a great little commuter pickup.

V8'S are performance life. I've built plenty of V8's in my 44 years of owning cars.

it may happen if the price point exceeds the Ranger far enough!
It wouldn't need to exceed the Ranger, but could be a sport model. Think future Lobo.

Miata is also RWD not FWD or AWD like the Maverick!! Post pictures of the Coyote swapped Miata I don't think I've seen one?
There's a few out there! Really the only Miata I'd want to own. Like a modern Cobra. Here's a couple for you.

Did California fall in the ocean? Didn't hear about the earthquake.

The Maverick was designed from the outset to be an efficient and flexible economy trucklett.

Why wait for an overpowered Maverick that may never happen?
Buy a car or truck with a lot of ponies under the hood if that's what you want.

The Ranger has an available 2.7L EcoBoost V6 with 315 horsepower, and a 3.0L EcoBoost V6 on the Raptor with 405 horsepower. The Raptor gets 17MPG. The Mav can get 40. I prefer the latter.

Those Mav owners I've talked to mention the affordability and great MPG.
Those were also a big part of the reasons I bought a MAV and not a Ranger.

It doesn't need 300+ horses to make a run in traffic to buy supplies, especially when that "upgrade" has a serious downside in fuel usage and an increase in cost.

I don't see Ford doing it.

there are always going to be car guys who are going to shout: MOAR POWER! regardless of what the manufacturers provide.

I had a 2018 Buick Regal TourX, 2.0T 250 hp and 295 lb ft. 0-60 in 6.3 and the quarter mile in less than 15. Still there were guys whining "Why isn't there a V6 GS version?" (3.6 V6 from the GS model.) Gee I don't know? Maybe because its a "sport tourer" and even with the current specs it would spank the cars I spent the 1980s/early 1990s lusting over?

I put a livernois tune on mine, I cant imagine needing more grunt.
Power is an addiction. Wait until your first vehicle over 500HP. That's what starts the hunger.

My first used car was 360HP in 1982.
My first used car was a 1970 Chevy Nova with a 5.0l V8 generating 200hp. Traded it on a new 1979 Volvo 242 with the 4cyl 2.1l “Red Block” engine generating 107hp. Been NA 4cyl engines ever since until the Turbo 4cyl on Lobo;)

The 250hp Maverick EB is almost faster than my eyesight. In my future, anything over 300hp will have to be fully self driving!

That 70 had a 307 I assume. My 18 Mustang has 307 cubes too, but 5 times the power of that Nova. My Maverick is just a commuter, so I got the hybrid.
