Best hood struts - recommendations?

Ford owner's manual says you have to pull the latch lever TWICE in order to open the hood. I thought it is a nice safety feature and more convenient than having to pop the hood and then go out and find the second release latch to open the hood.

The double pull of the handle is required. There is nothing wrong with your truck.

I know. The second pull won't release the hood unless I give it some assistance. Again, was fine when first installed.

First mod put on my 2022 XLT. Got MRT version, been very satisfied. Never liked those thin rods to prop up, looks cheap. Have hood struts on my 2007 Mustang GT also. Just a personal choice.

Yeah I agree! I marked my bracket placement then held the hood with my other hand while sliding the bracket on & bolted it back in place. With the mark the repeat on the other side

I read of people bending their hoods closing them because the hood is weak aluminum and the added struts required too much force. That was a couple years ago though, maybe the current struts aren't as beefy?

I’ve never had that issue.

Originally I had no issues. These days I have to pull the release, pull up on the hood, then pull the release the second time to completely free the hood. Might just need some adjustment.

There is a simple fix for that. I was having difficulty but a spring solved it. I found the spring on Amazon for under $10.

Do you all leave the prop rod in place and stowed, after you install the struts just in case or remove it.

No reason at all to remove it.

I bought hood struts a couple of years ago, but I STILL have not installed them. I heard too many bad stories about the hood wouldn’t open.

Mine is still in place, just unused.
