I'll be the odd person out and say that I despise hood struts. All my F-150s had them OEM and so did my Super Duties. You not only opened a can of worms but a barrel of monkeys with this thread. You will get as many recommendations as there are retailers.
100% agree. I installed mine 3+ years ago and they still work perfect. My preference is Redline Tuning. Only requires removing one of two bolts on each side of hood mount, so no fear of getting hood out of line/position- whatever it’s called - when installing
I tried the MRT struts and couldn’t open my hood after the install. It took 2 people to open the hood. One person pulling on the interior hood release while the other person lifting the hood. Hood spring didn’t help. Threw the struts in the trash. Not worth the trouble.MRT racing is a complete bolt on kit. I’ve been using their kits for years on my mustangs & other vehicles
Wow not sure what happened . I’ve installed many of their kits over the years on my vehicles. Currently 4I tried the MRT struts and couldn’t open my hood after the install. You will never go wrong ordering from Redline. Like others have said, I am concerned about adding hood struts but other products I’ve gotten from Redline have been excellent.Don't mess around--Redline tuning Quick Lift hood struts are the best. I put them on everything that I buy, including my "Winter Beater" Subaru Outback.
Originally I had no issues. These days I have to pull the release, pull up on the hood, then pull the release the second time to completely free the hood. Might just need some adjustment.I tried the MRT struts and couldn’t open my hood after the install. It took 2 people to open the hood. Ford owner's manual says you have to pull the latch lever TWICE in order to open the hood. I thought it is a nice safety feature and more convenient than having to pop the hood and then go out and find the second release latch to open the hood.Originally I had no issues. The double pull of the handle is required. There is nothing wrong with your truck.Originally I had no issues. These days I have to pull the release, pull up on the hood, then pull the release the second time to completely free the hood. Might just need some adjustment.
