For those that have had a cubby in the right rear of the bed, how weather tight is it? I'd like to store tiedowns, bungees, etc. in there for easy access, but it looks like there aren't any drain or ventilation holes in the cubby (or at least none that I could see). I'm concerned that if water got in there from rains, car washes, or washing out the bed with a hose, that water would get into the cubby area and have no way to drain or evaporate. I can see the cover has a bit of foam weatherstripping on the top and sides, so that would help some. But I'm curious if water intrusion has been a problem for others, or if it really is pretty weather tight, and I won't need to worry about things getting wet in the cubby (or in the compartment below) as long as reasonable care is taken to avoid direct blasts of water.

There are two drain holes at the bottom of them, circled in red in the picture below. I've not had water in mine, but I have a tonneau cover.

Thanks. I'll have to look more closely tonight. Didn't see those at first glance.

The fact that it has holes at all means it's not weatherproof! I used to carry tiedowns in there and they got rusted to hell.

No more, no less.
Unless you're Canadian, in which case simply use 3.78541 liters.

Even before I installed my bed cover, I never noticed any evidence of mosture in the cubby, but I don't think the door is gasketed, so I'd never store anything susceptible to moisture damage there. I'd think most bungees and ratchet straps could stand getting wet.

I have not had any issue with my cubby being damp but I also have a bed liner and a tonneau. I do notice that in torrential rain or carwashes water will travel through the valleys of the bed. So far lucky with the cubby!

It will get wet in there just from driving in the rain....

I probably wouldn't put tie down straps in it because the metal ratchets will corrode and seize up. I keep mine under the back seat. I don't think I've opened the cubby since I got it. A tow rope would probably be okay to put in there and stuff that doesn't rust or rot. 😬

I keep my tie down straps in the bed cubby. I put them in plastic bags so moisture is not an issue.

I have them on both sides and mine don't get wet from driving in the rain, but I have a hard tonneau cover, splash guards and the driver's side cavity shield to keep water from being thrown up there. I've kept tie downs in there for eight months and they haven't rusted.

I’ve had no problems with mine. I’ve used to store things you are talking about. No water, no dust getting in. Mine is MY 24.
