I like the look of the deflectors, it breaks up the mass of gray of the front of the truck and will maybe help save the leading edge of the hood.

I bought the AVS II as it screws into existing holes, no double sided tape needed on the body work.

It's a good hunk of plastic, I think. The issue I have is with the included fasteners. The heads of the screws are right around the same diameter of the cutouts, don't offer enough purchase on the plastic and go right through. See the pics.

If I add a washers, again, see pic, it holds off the screw from expanding the fasteners just enough inside the bodywork and will not tighten up.

The only option I see is to source my own fasteners. Everything on Amazon looks to be identical to the ones that came with the kit. I'm going to go by the parts store and see if I can find an alternative.

Anyone have the same issue? Any solutions?

Don't get me started on plastic threads on the fasteners, I know they are industry standard, but if you over tighten just a hair, they are toast.

I know it's not rocket surgery, just seeing if anyone has a better way to solve this.

Cheers

@Realtruck

Alex, have you have any similar reports of problems with the fasteners with this model?

Thanks

Search for Truss head screws.
Why is it called truss head screw?

Truss head refers to a screw head that is extra wide and has a slightly rounded surface, or top. In other words, the head or top of the screw protrudes just above the surface to be fastened, but contains a wider surface area just under the head.

After fighting with the included fasteners for like 20 min I threw them in the trash. They only have like one thread on them. I had one that worked perfect in my extra bin so I took it to autozone and found some that were similar and used those. Worked great.

I did have to drill a new hole in mine though too. Three slots lined up perfect. Last one wasn’t even close.

I was missing a couple so called avs said they would send . called back to check and got hung up on . they sent you the wrong grommets . I gave up with them and used some grommets I had left over from some vehicle temporarily . AutoZone has them but I ordered from Amazon $6 for 100 different types. I had free shipping . changed out temporary fix with appropriate replacements .

Yeah, I figured as much. There is no way these can be the correct size. Thanks

It's a big ask but could you take a pic of the head of the fastener if you get the chance? Thanks

BTW, looks good!

Me again . after looking at your photos again I think you might have mounted the grommets wrong. The whole grommet ( both pieces )has to be pushed through the deflector hole and Hood hole and then screw Phillips head part down to spread the wings out to hold in place .
