I never used it.
I know how to drive.
Ahhhh - you got the feature wrong.

It's not used while driving.

It's used while NOT driving, ie not moving.

Ahh, and Redrum tried to tell us that he knows how to drive. Clearly that's not the case.
Good catch Heybales!

I'm pretty sure that not using an optional feature and knowing how to drive belong in different sections of the driving proficiency test..

I like the auto hold feature myself, and I might like it more if I drove in heavy traffic, but I don't.
Stop at a light and foot down when it's green works for me.
It's easy and obvious to engage and disengage as well.

There may be evidence that the feature alleviates muscle mass disparities between the unused left leg and overused right leg while driving.

How hard do you push on the brake?

I use it infrequently enough I'm still not comfy with the slight Go pedal press to get out of it.
I need to check the monitor sometime and see if it's more or less % press than the Hill Assist or EPB release requires.

I also need to start checking if these vehicles I see leaving 1-2 car lengths in front of themselves at stop lights (literally) are newer - perhaps they have the feature too and think they need space for it.
Been going on long enough here would not be surprised if others are jumping on board because they hope a safety thing.
Not a younger/older thing, see all ages doing it. Unless it's certain older ones teaching their younger ones to do it - and now we can just all expect only 3-4 cars to make it through a left turn say. argh.

I really like auto hold on the Maverick. My other car is an EV, so now very natural to not keep foot on brake when stopped.
As mentioned, it is simple enough to turn off, like when I need to “creep” into my garage.

I use my Auto Brake about 5 to 10% of the time.
I find it a little smoother to leave the auto brake off, so that when the light turns green. I can take my foot off the brake and allow my Maverick to creep forward, before I step on the accelerator.

I know how to drive.
So do i.

That's why I disabled the automatic spark advance and added a manual control. Same for the clutch.

Stripping the synchronizers from the transmission was more work . . .

How hard do you push on the brake?
Once, hard enough to lift me entirely off of the seat, and it still wasn't enough.

Going down the ramp after the stage at an auction.

It turned out that the brakes were really bad, but that the power steering had been enough to hide this. Right until it had to roll with the engine off!

Anyway, you have to press the brake on the maverick a tad past what it takes to stop in order to engage the autohold. You can be sitting there with your foot on the brake stopped for a couple of seconds, with the EV coach telling you you have 100% recovery, and still start rolling if you don't give it a touch extra! (maybe it's enough to engage the actual brakes?)

And it takes too much accelerator to release it when doing precision maneuvers or backing up a steep driveway with turns; I turn it off for both of these.

I love auto hold. I don’t have to sit there with my foot on the brake pedal. Yeah, I know. I’m lazy.
You're not lazy. Use the feature! Why have it and not use it???

It's nice to push when I stop and need to get something from the back seat without throwing it in park.

While I occasionally use it while on the road, I turn it off whenever I'm navigating a parking lot. Too jerky in that setting.

Tested.

Same 5.5-6% Go pedal push to release out of Hill Assist early, Auto Hold, or EPB enabled.
Same over 150 PSI pressure held for HA and AH.
No PSI for EPB of course.

Thank you very much; I was beginning to feel odd about resting on the bumper of the car in front of me. To me it's a bit narcissistic to think nobody behind you matters (will they make it through the light; will they be stuck in an intersection on a red light; etc.)
