Thanks, but I'm looking for the documentation to support your statement that the dealer has to install on every car they sell. I can't imagine that a dealership would sign a contract with another company that could cause them to lose sales.

Although I probably won't get my Mav for a while. I ordered late Dec. I understand the dealer I ordered from puts on pulse brakes on the third brake light. I looked up the company and they sign a deal with the dealer that they have to put it on every car they sell. Is having the third light pulsing when you first apply the brakes even legal? I tried to research that but got conficting results. I actually like the idea but don't want an excuse to get pulled over.
I have never heard of a 'mandatory' dealer add-on that a dealer's customer 'has' to participate in, much less if the add-on is not a manufacturer part.
Maybe to deter the dealer, ask them if they are familiar with local TV stations that do investigative reporting. . . . . .

I know this is an old thread but I just ordered my Maverick WITHOUT that flashy light. It is annoying not helpful. Next time the dealer brings it up I will ask them for the research data that supports it as a safety device. Like a lot of other "good ideas" it just adds cost, likely not that much safety.

When I got my Mav they did not put it on. But I did notice that every in vehicle in stock they had it on. I came close to getting a Corolla while waiting for the Mav. That dealer had a 3 thousand dollar pinstripe. I just walked away.

In my order the dealer "add on" did not have a box to check it. However they told me it was a $250 deduct as I did get pushback on why I didn't want to be a "safer" driver.

Okay, got it. The old dealer add-on we need more profit so we're going to slap this sticker on here and dream up some numbers.

The only way my brother could get his wife a Lexus NX hybrid in Cincinnati was to accept the car with one of these installed. They said that it was a mandatory option on every Lexus they sold. Followed him home and my observation was that it looked like there was an electrical problem with the light. Made it look like cheesy.
Oddly, when he bought a NX plug in hybrid in New York state a couple of months later, the dealer did not have a "mandatory" option. Pretty easy to understand that vehicles in short supply are often targeted by sleazy dealers. I'm shocked, shocked,...etc.
I would be afraid that the cheap electronics in the module would crap out and ruin something as so many systems in modern vehicles are interconnected.

Why not just replace the 3rd brake light with a bulb that has built in pulse? Much cheaper and a lot less work. Amazon has them.

That's what I did on my Maverick.
I always replaced the tail/brake light with a pulse bulb's on all of my motorcycles. My UTV in Utah is roadworthy and it has a pulse bulb.

That's what made me chuckle. The dealer had them at some crazy add on cost.
