So if I tow the same load as you up the same hill as you, in a hybrid, can I slam your balls in the door of your Maverick?

I'm guessing that would get a few views on the internet.
Well that is an interesting proposal. Lol
I’m sure it will haul it. I’m not saying it won’t but anyone who says it will do the same or better power wise is being intellectuals dishonest. Once your battery is drained you are on a non turbo 4 cylinder. Rated at a lot less power. That’s just facts.
Think of say 8 miles steep grade. Your battery doesn’t have the capacity to allow the electric motor to help the whole time.
Say we both put 8k behind us. I know my eco will still be doing 70-75 by the time I hit the top. I’m willing to say the hybrid won’t be

I own two EBs. In fact, 99% of the time, I'm fine with the truck turning off at lights. It's just I live in the South and it never does because the A/C is running.

But as a "solution" to pollution, Auto Start Stop is silly. There are more effective methods.
Yes like an ecoboost on e85. More power and less emissions.
We all win.

You think I haven’t towed with it. It’s not nearly as good as the ecoboost for towing. Much like when I crossed shopped my 150 I looked at the eco diesel.

I haul trailers all over the country. So how would a power boost help me? Battery only has limited capacity. So if I set my cruise on the highway I’m relying on the gas engine for almost all the power anyway. How does that power boost help?

I can tell you one thing for sure. I purchase and drive a lot of vehicles some on here know that .i get to test a lot of them over many miles. I once was a v8 no turbo 6 guy. Then they simply got better. When that time come that the hybrid does what i need it to better I’ll get one. But much like a electric car you won’t be able to sell me dreams and unicorn farts
You realize that when the ICE engine is on you’re always charging your battery? You act like once it’s gone it’s gone and never coming back but you’re set in your ways so take your W and enjoy

I'm willing to bet your EB over-heats and goes into limp home mode or blows a hose doing that.

So if you beat me to mile 7 and blow off a radiator hose, and I make it all the way, I still win.

WOW! I can’t believe that of all these owners of Maverick’s, be it Hybrids or Eco, seem to be at odds! They are nice mini trucks regardless. Let’s pick on other manufacturers trucks, I’ll start, Chev, Kia, Dodge, Hyundai, Honda, Talk amongst yourselves! 😉

Do you can point to a hybrid that been pulling 4k lbs on the regular? Pretty sure you can’t because they are not rated for that so even if they fail that’s not the trans fault. Much like if mine fails I can’t blame that. I’m tuned for much more power and trq and I regularly pull well past the 4 k limit many times doubling that.
This is rich coming from the guy who routinely exceeds tow ratings and brags about it....

So yes there are plenty of people out there pulling 4K with HF45 even!

but its not required...unlike lets say the rear camera. thats where I dont understand the issue. There are brand new vehicles being made without the auto start stop. no issues/rules saying it needs it...etc. some manufactures made the decision to use them (I assume) because of the clients (aka customers). if they figure nobody uses it, then they no longer use it.

Prime example.... look at the Ford Parking Assist thing...where it would help you parallel park. What current Ford vehicles still have that feature? Should be none....they stopped it.
[/QUOT yep - another waste of time effort resources and money for park assist - you'd think that somewhere back in time someone would have done some market research and found out if there was any real demand to embark on that product . Imagine the many millions they blew developing it, implementing it and then finding out ...ah, yeah, nobody really wants it. Same with self driving cars - yet another solution in search of a problem. Same with EVs - when you can get almost 50mpg on a hybrid why would you want to spend 2-3-4x as much to drive some vehicle that would 'save' you on fuel and go thru all the hassle of charging it? Most would never recoup the fuel savings to make up for the added cost and headaches....

So, interesting story on Hyundai. There is a Hyundai factory nearby and I was told by my insurance agent to avoid them. Not that they are unsafe, but due to the employee discount, almost 20% of vehicles in the area are Hyundais. As a result, 20% of accidents involve a Hyundai. Therefore, insuring a Hyundai in this area costs more than it does in other areas.

She told me is is the same close to pretty much every factory of every manufacturer.

Yup dumbest feature added imo to vehicles.
yep - safety problem too - imagine being first in line at a red light and you look in your rear view mirror and see some clown barreling toward you and you need to floor it and get out of the way as soon as you can but of course you're hindered a couple seconds while your truck 'starts up' and you get nailed. And yes I have been in that exact situation and it was only by my quick but safe (yeah there wasn't anyone else going the other way) flooring manuever that I didn't get rear ended by some drunken speeding fool behind me.

Thankfully I have forscan and disabled it the minute I brought the truck home.

good idea! I just never put it in ECO mode - I'm good with the default mode.
Yeah only driving modes I've used is normal and sport. 😎👍
