I'm old school, yet, Start/stop doesn't bother me.

Not really that complicated to delete. If a button is a simple delete and people can over-ride it in forscan, Ford should be able to do it with ease.Although I'm not the biggest fan of it, I get why it exists. I don't view it as a government overreach. It was made with the intention of reducing tailpipe emissions and that's a great thing. But for those who have the same level of hatred for it like it cheated on their spouse, it's like, get over it! If you don't like it, just turn it off or don't buy a car equipped with it. They do exist, they're just few and far between.
I don't see this turnaround being so easy for manufacturers. Cars and the engines that power them are planned years in advance. This abrupt deregulation is not gonna magically equip cars without this feature overnight. It'll take years to fully phase it out if they even want to go down that path. Some will embrace it, some won't. That won't be as easy as it sounds. Cars will have to wait until their mid-cycle refresh or full redesign to reconfigure the dash or center console with the removal of that button. I guess, only time will tell what manufacturers will be willing to do.
I guess it depends on how quick your footwork is.I have never had this happen........... Of course, I often have the auto hold on so my foot is not even on the break, oops brake!!! Even without the auto hold I have never had it surge forward. I am going to have to try to get it to surge forward tomorrow; I am not sure that is possible.......
Love the feature; just seems to make sense to me, but maybe that is just me............. At least after yesterday, I now know that it really does not help the environment!!![]()

Just another govt reg treading all over my personal freedom.............
agree, no clue why people hate. May be putting a little addl stress on the starter, but have never lost a starter. ICE Mav here and it works fine. Most of the time I don't even realize it has shut down till I look down at the tack. Instant start when I hit the gas.Yeah the hate for start-stop kinda puzzles me. I never had an ICE car with that system, but I love how the hybrid isn't wasting fuel by idling all the time at lights or in traffic
Maybe the system doesn't work so well on the EcoBoost and that's why ppl hate it![]()
Not just the starters only, also ‘hot’ turbos. Start stop, bad!agree, no clue why people hate. May be putting a little addl stress on the starter, but have never lost a starter. never though of that, though the only warning about letting the turbo cool before shutting off on my little Mercury Capri convertible (a Mazda built Ford import from Australia) was after highway driving. No city warning and that is where the stop start is used predominantly. Not just the starters only, also ‘hot’ turbos. Start stop, bad!

Really surprising since I'm sure there are temp sensors dealing with the the turbo only - they know how hot it is.Not just the starters only, also ‘hot’ turbos. Start stop, bad!
Regs=> or Regulation:Auto S/S was not mandated, but was encouraged by emissions and fuel economy standards. So nothing has really changed unless we're rolling back environmental regs which, IMHO, is not a win. I do understand the frustrations with the system in pure ICE vehicles as it can be jarring. With my hybrid, the ASS is a feature, not a bug![]()
Cylinder head, schmilnder head. It’s over rated, you don’t need it.Every time an ICE stops heat builds up super fast in specific areas of the engine. But not everywhere.
The engine lubricants main job is heat transfer. It’s that simple. Motor oils second job is to keep high speed parts effortlessly moving super close to each other without making contact.
At a certain temp and at a low Idle RPM Air Cooled Harley Davidson models shut down the back cylinder Completely. That’s how they survive parades. Air cooled remember ?
The oil keeps flowing and with half the motor not creating heat that half acts like a massive heat sink.
Our engines stop, the oil AND the coolant stops flowing.
Stupid beyond belief. Really Ford ?
I mean Dayum !
