You keep throwing this out, but as I have said time and time again, it's not just "one button."

It's that button, then it's acknowledging seat belts, then it's changing to the drive mode I want...
I appreciate that Ford provides a driver-selectable button, and I understand why the A/S/S reverts to "on" every trip - but getting moving in my pickup should not be like going to the moon.
So it’s the start stop button That’s the straw that breaks the camels back ?😅

Obviously, it's not about what button comes last; it's about the quantity. The point has always been it's not "just one button."

For the record, I forgot the cruise control master switch, so I was undercutting the real number of button presses. ;)

I use cruise often, including around town. I remember Ford's asinine methodology of reverting cruise to "off" in my F-150 thirty years ago. It was a pain in the ass then, and still is today...

When I get in my Maverick, I wait for the seatbelt light to go out by itself. I'm not impatient. In my 2025, when I press the master switch when I reach my desired speed. it automatically locks in the speed. Try it . So that only leaves the driving mode switch and the start stop as a "must press" switch. Even then, Press that switch after I'm already moving. I don't have the start stop switch in my hybrid, it's always doing so in normal operation. It's not that serious.

Some of the same people who find it too taxing to press the auto stop switch are the Same people complaining that there's no manual transmission option in the Maverick. Kinda ironic isn't it?

Dude, I appreciate your knowledge and contributions to the forum. But I really don't know what you're arguing, and you're way off base here anyway.

There are literally people making protective cover plates for center console switches so their domesticated animals can roam freely inside the cab while driving on public roads.

Another subset of people want to disable the headlights from reverting to "Auto" because they just find it annoying.

Another group are resorting to wireless adapters because they can't abide a USB cord being anywhere near a rotary shift dial.

Personally I think all of the above concepts are silly, but it isn't my place to tell them "it's no big deal, suck it up, get over it" etc. because I don't know what their hot buttons are, and those trucks aren't mine. So - my truck isn't yours, and you clearly don't use yours the way I do mine. I'm happy the buttons you press aren't serious. My A/S/S switch isn't "serious" anymore either, because I eliminated it the first week I had the truck.

And I think a manual would be dumb in a Maverick, except for maybe the Lobo.

Per wikipedia:

The US Environmental Protection Agency offers gas mileage rating incentives to car manufacturers who ensure their auto stop-start systems default to the "on" position[citation needed]. If the system is "non-latching" (i.e., it does not stay off after the car is switched off), the EPA only calculates fuel economy figures when the system is engaged. If the car manufacturer allows the system to be permanently disabled, then the EPA tests the fuel economy with the system both on and off, then averages the two fuel economy figures. Since that average will always be lower than the economy with the system engaged, car manufacturers choose to switch it back on when the vehicle is restarted,[55] which some operators find inconvenient.[56]
Interesting, thanks for the information!

The technology is stupid but the outrage is overrated. I have not heard of anyone I know having to replace their starter in almost 20 years. I mostly leave it on as I honestly am not bothered with the truck stopping its vibrating when at a traffic light. I will turn it off in certain situations, like when it has been a while since I last drove and I want the engine to keep running.
