The auto shut off on my maverick hasn't been engaging in months( well at least one). And I don't want it to. Now it does every drive if I don't disengage it. Can it not be permanently disengaged?

The only way the AS&S automatic stop and start can be disabled permanently is with an add-on device. Maybe FORScan.
A low battery will also keep it from activating.

you can search the forum using the term: auto start stop, and find tons of Hate/Love of the feature. (I'm a hater) but over the years my brain is programmed to push the start button, push the disable button, select gear every time. I understand it can be disable with that Forscan software some people use to change things in the computer or there are devices like the Auto Start Stop Eliminator that disables it.

It probably hasn't been engaging in months because you have been using your heat. Having heat on or AC running will prevent it from coming on. If you have a hitch on your maverick you can put a hitch break light in. Having that connected to your trailer wiring will prevent the auto start/stop from engaging. Forscan isn't a long term solution. It will work until your truck needs a pcm update, then you would have to get it forscanned again.

Enh. You make it sound like you've got to take modules out of the truck and ship them off overseas to get them programmed.

Boot laptop, plug in cable, open Forscan, reset A/S/S setting, cycle the key, unplug cable, put computer away. It took me as long to type that as it would to physically do it.

Incorrect. A few weeks ago, I was stopped at a light and noticed that the A/C didn't seem to be working normally. It was then that I realized I had forgotten to deactivate Auto Stop-Start. I hit the button for that, the engine started, and the A/C went back to normal.

Sure if you have or have a friend that has forscan. If not you will have to pay someone to do it. Why pay someone when you can get a $20 part that takes 30 seconds to do one time?

Because a $20 Forscan license will do infinitely more than just deal with that one annoying feature.

But if people are intimidated by Forscan, or just don't want to do it - yes, there are several other options for handling A/S/S.

Who is intimidated by forscan??? lol You need more that just a $20 forscan license. You need a laptop to run it and an OBD adaper. If you plan on using forscan for a lot of stuff it would be worth it to have, but kinda dumb to buy everything for one issue that is easily solved without it.

Believe it or not, some people are intimidated by fiddling with their trucks' software. No shame in that, but it's a thing. "Kinda dumb" to ask that question honestly.

Anyway, no one - including me - has suggested "buying everything" for one issue. Forscan is another option for addressing A/S/S. I mean, sometimes people just own Windows laptops already. 🤷‍♂️

Cheers.

Agreed 👍
I don't own a PC, laptop or a tablet. Everything I do on this forum is from my phone.

Believe it or not. Some members take a picture of something with their phone. Then download it to a PC in order to post it to the forum. When it can be done in less than a minute using the phone they took the picture with🤷‍♂️
